#ChicSassyMomFinds | Royal Stafford Dinnerware etc.

Oh Hello, hello!  The colors and designs of our dinnerwares set our home decorating theme. Well, because, true to our family as well, the kitchen/dining area is where we spend most time together, and more often than not, the no gadget-rule applies. Quality time. Meaningful connections. On the functional side, the dinnerwares are out a lot, they serve as the key decorating elements. Wow. I'm feeling a bit like an interior designer. πŸ˜‰ So when we got the plates, it's back to blue, and sky is the limit. Lovely!

Dinner is served. Royal Stafford Floral Weave Dinner plate, Salad Plate, Soup bowl, and serving dish
Thank goodness I paid attention to my aunts on their ravings of their collections of Royal Albert, Royal Stafford, Lenox, Lladro, Capodimonte, and what have you. So when we saw the Royal Stafford that can do service for 8, we're sold!

Happy tea time with TWG Tea from our Singapore trip, Royal Albert Polka Blue 2-Tier Dessert stand and matching tea cups and tea pot. Keep calm, and drink tea.
Gotta match em all. I found these coaster set from Target by Creative Coop Secret Garden Collection. I will show you another time, but we have birds, owls to complement our overall theme of floral/garden prints. Of course, they need to be blue.
Our table setting outside. We also have pineapples, owls too.
We had so much fun shopping. #FeelingInteriorDesigner Mostly from Homegoods (favorite place everrrr), and some in Target or Amazon. Not all Homegoods are the same, of all the 4 branches we've visited, it's not often you find Royal Stafford, Royal Albert etc. When I see the "Made in England" sticker, my eyes twinkle, twinkle. Fine bone China is also must get. It's extra nice because this is a collective effort with my husband. It seemed he's onboard with the theme. So he didn't mind the floral patterns, and my penchant for pineapples and owls. They matched with the theme, I say. Haha.

I guess, there's still feat in collecting items that are not easily within your disposal. Ha. So when in California, instead of getting American brands for dinnerwares (say like Corelle), we decided we want dinnerwares from England, Japan, China, India etc. London is calling. (Pfft, I haven't been there yet, but my my, I already now what to hoard shop, so help me God.) Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomFinds | Guerlain Meteorites Pearls Clair #FOTD

Bonjour, love! πŸ€—

It has been quite sometime since I made a detailed product review, not yet there, but this is as close as it gets. I'm compelled just because, my, my, this product is so pricey beautiful not to be featured.

Hmmmm πŸ€”, with twinkle, twinkle in my eyes, I'm sold! Sometime ago, I thought I deserve a treat, so I decided to indulge in Sephora. Voila! It's my first of many Guerlain to have and to own. πŸ˜‰

Guerlain MΓ©tΓ©orites Illuminating Powder Pearls
So pretty.
Product Overview: An illuminating powder made up of light-diffusing pearls that minimize flaws and add brightness to the skin
"Born of expert craftsmanship, this cult constellation of multi-coloured powder pearls with an unforgettable violet fragrance created in 1987 is now available in an unprecedented harmony dedicated to Blanc de Perle. Today, the MΓ©tΓ©orites hold the secret to Stardust technology - a light-creating polymer, which transforms light invisible to the naked eye into a pure and endless glow on the skin. A subtle blend of matte, rosy and radiant blue-toned white pearls, combined with corrective coloured pearls – yellow to counter redness, pink for freshness and mauve to catch the light – they light up the face in an illuminating and corrective halo to give endless radiance." -Guerlain Official Website
Swatch of Guerlain Meteorites No. 2 Clair/Light #BestEffort
Stardust Technology. Endless radiance. While I don't have the MΓ©tΓ©orites Pinceau (the matching brush for it that you have to buy separately), but still my current makeup brush works just fine so I can still get that luxurious feel and finish. Oooooh I just can't get enough of it, plus the scent, double love.

Because I was nursing bad skin days, I had to skimp on makeup. I tried to use one makeup at a time for testing, and c'est magnifique, it works. Goodness gracious, otherwise, goodbye $60++.

Simple #FOTD Guerlain |  Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner | Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara | Mac Yumyum Lipgloss | Tom Ford Sunglasses
Key words are luxurious (for the brand, price, and the look), soft shimmering (for that healthy, radiant glow a la Korean Drama Actress, which I so badly covet), and sheer coverage. It works best for highlighting to set and to hold powder.  It doesn't offer buildable coverage, and the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Compact Powder Foundation champions that feature. Anyhow, I've given up on covering my age spots, oh well, I grew up and I realize I just need to embrace them. Hah. Lesser worries, and one less step in my skin care routine. Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomFinds | Ribbon Hairties πŸŽ€ #LaTaDa

To bling or not to bling, that is the question. But then accessories truly make everything better. Sometime ago, I was hoarding accessories (type accessories on my search box), then I grew up and got older. Hah. But every so often, functional accessories still get me like these ribbon hair ties.

I'm still just a girl changing the world one bling at a time. The jeweled embellishment got me. I'm sold!
La-ta-da Ribbon Hair Ties from Target for $6.99 for a 5pc Pack
Hairstyle all I like... half-up ponytail, layered ponytail, messy bun, and ponytail.
Hair ties bracelets #Nice
After graduating from my accessorize-addiction, I just left room for arm candies. I still love layering rings and bracelets. Though mostly, I'm going for real jewelries now. πŸ€— These hair ties will just blend in nicely. In the Korean drama world where I live in, hair ties bracelets are source of inspiration, from fashion trends to OTP shipping confirmation (are they hair tie or matching bracelets?! πŸ€”πŸ˜‚). So yes, these are nice. I'm so tempted to get more. Goody also has a line of Ribbon Hair ties, but as said, I like the bling. When I do accessorize, I like to use them liberally. Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomEats | Trader Joe's Pad Thai

Sawasdee! Our comfort food in California is Thai ( I know, I was hoping to say Korean, but then there's not as much reasonably priced resto in the area, I miss Shik Do Rak). We've probably tried out 5 different Thai Resto since arriving. I always order Pad Thai. There were hits and misses. It's nice that my go-to Thai Resto is just a drive away from where we are staying. But meantime, Trader Joe's offering (this and so much more) doesn't disappoint. For the price and ease of preparation (sorry not sorry for liking instant food 🀷🏻‍♀️), it's as good as it gets. πŸ˜‹

Trader Joe's Tru Thai Vegetable Pad Thai
Easy peasy...dun, dun, duuuun. πŸ‘ŒπŸ» Let's eat. A-roi!!! πŸ˜‹
Trader Joe's Pad Thai works to satisfy my cravings, what's not to like, you have the must-have tofu for added texture, bean sprouts (which surprisingly remains crisp), and the greens. No lime though. But still, it's flavorful (perfectly sweet, sour and salty). Like most microwave food, it's best to be eaten right away. It's probably not the best pad thai out there, though it remains to be seen since I can't really establish the right measure since I haven't been to Thailand. But of all those pad thai's I had here and there, I reckon it's an impressive alternate. For $2.99, I'll take it any day. Cheers! ;-D

#FangirlModeOn | What Drama I'm watching #LoveO20

Annyeong, cinggu! πŸ€— I'm overly being dramatic lately, both drama marathons and real life drama. Hah. I will be posting regularly on what I'm done marathoning (Love O2O) and now watching (The Bride of the Water God and The King Loves). Side story. I'm subscribed to both Dramafever and Viki now, so I can watch dramas all night/day long. Hello, life! Welcome to my world! 🀷🏻‍♀️

Ottoke!? I have a new anti-aging, Yang Yang oppa. πŸ˜‚
Before KDramas, there were Chinese/Taiwan Dramas (and I'm crazy about them too, type Asian/Taiwan Drama in my search box). I'm happy to reconnect with the captivating dramaworld that got me fully onboard with the fangirling shenanigans.

Meet my new OTP ship... Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang of Love O2O (a.k.a One Smile is Very Alluring), a 2016 Chinese TV Series. I wonder if it is it letter O or Zero, I feel that it's fitting for it to be Love O20 like (O2) Oxygen (0) Zero, because the OTP literally takes my breath away. Zheng Shuang plays Bei Weiwei. She is beauty and brains incarnated. I couldn't agree more. She's so pretty. In the game world, the parallel story line, she goes by Reed Weiwei. While Yang yang plays Xiao Nai, a.k.a. Mr. Perfect, who is the campus heartthrob and in the game, he plays the no. 1 player Yixiao Naihe.  In the game, they formed an alliance to get married so they both can participate in a couple competition within the game. The newly formed couple instantly hit it off, and undergo many adventures together in the game.  However, Wei Wei never expected the real identity of her virtual husband to be her college senior, Xiao Nai. They met in real life, and are truly, madly, deeply in love with each other.  Awwww. Squeee. *Le Sigh

Reed Wei Wei and Nai He's parallel love story in the game
This couple makes me so giddy. Goodness gracious. I'm giving my all to this ship and fandom.
Yang Yang Oppa, saranghae!!! No words.
As said, I have a soft spot for Taiwan/Chinese dramas because Meteor Garden kick off my drama addiction, though I tend to follow specific male and female leads (well mostly male leads as long as I like their co-star). It has been a while though. I mostly watched most of the Taiwanese F4 and Mike He's drama, for female I just like Ady An from Autumn's Concerto.

Now back to Love O2O, Yang Yang is love, love, love, and so is Zheng Shuang, I'm shipping them. The story is well written too at 30 episodes, it's not too long like the usual Chinese Drama. You have good supporting cast ala the friends and enemies. The game world is so nice. The computer generated imagery is superb, plus super love their costumes. Can I turn back time and start playing online games? If only. Hah. The impatient me though feels that the game world are a bit too long for my liking. Sorry, but I just can't enough of their real life interaction, from their first date, first of many, many kisses, and their marriage, so when I re-watched it I skipped some game parts. Overall, there are a lot of heartwarming scenes. Super kilig, I swear. Your thoughts? Let's fangirl.

This is real. I just updated my Twitter Profile to profess my membership to his fandom (his fandom and my Korean oppas πŸ˜‚ ). I need my Yang Yang fix. Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomFinds | Apple, Spam and Egg Slicers

Oh wow! Amazon Prime, oh how we love thee. Hubby is having so much fun shopping almost everything in Amazon, from Samsung TV,  Echo to mundane things like small kitchen tools. πŸ˜‚

No yaya? No worries.
Norpro Apple Slicer, Corer. You have to make sure the arrow are aligned when you push down.
Voila! Nice. 🍎
Spam Musubi all we like. πŸ™
No helper, no problem. πŸ‘ŒπŸ» Let's do this. Aja! Aja! Cheers! ;-D

I haven't tried the egg slicer. To be continued...

#Beauty #Skincare | Fixing my Breakouts πŸ™…πŸ» Updated Skincare

Annyeong, cinggu! πŸ€—

I'm a skincare addict! πŸ™‹πŸ» My love affair with Korean skincare started a long time ago, I've been very diligent since then. I thought that was the worst skin breakouts episode for me, and then this happened. For almost a month now, I'm nursing facial breakouts (acne, eczema, rashes, what have you). Stress aggravated or allergies? Stress, most probably. Real life drama.

If you are following me on IG @chicsassymom, it has been a while since I posted a shameless selfie. Hah. Please indulge me. I thought with me doing the 7, 8, 9-step Korean Skincare, I'm covered for life without having derma visits and treatments. Oh well, I won't probably have Sim Cheong's skin (Jun Ji Hyun's mermaid character), but at least I'll have a passable one (enough for regular selfie since I do aspire to be a beauty blogger πŸ˜‚).

Nursing skin breakouts. #UpdatedSkincare
I do have a sensitive skin, so I'm pretty careful on my skincare and makeup adventure. I tend to stick to what works. For me, it's Innisfree, SkinFood (type SkinFood on my search box) and plus plus (Avene, Cure, Shu Uemura, SKII). As much as I can, I try to stay out of the premium, pricey lines like SKII and La Mer, maybe in the future. I know myself, I can get pretty addicted devoted. Haha. So far, for now, I'm sticking to the mainstream brands.

First photo (L), taken July 22, 2017. Last photo (R) taken August 8. Please indulge me, I'm vain. I'm on diet forever, so I only have my face, my precious. 🀦🏻‍♀️ Hah. When I had those rashes, I thought they were allergies. I ate something bad. I had the same episode last time, but I had rashes, which were super itchy, all over my body, not my face, goodness. As prescribed, I cocktail on anti-histamine (Co-Aleva, Celestamine, Xyzal, two of those are not available in the US ). It lasted a while, and I had to change my diet (so sad, I was in Japan and I couldn't eat raw fish to my heart's delight).  For this episode, I don't have Co-Aleva with me. What helped me out at night was Benadryl, because I need to drug myself to sleep, otherwise I tend to scratch (though I learned to use the tip of the facial tissue for scratching). They started as red and inflamed rashes. Plus super itchy too, and eventually, flaky. Bad. More than the unsightliness, it's the itch that was really bothersome.
I have to skimp on my daily skincare routine. I have to test everything out again on what will ease it out or make it worse. I kept only 3 steps, facial wash (but eventually changed it), wash-off fresh milk, and leave on Nature Republic Aloe Vera.

Nature Republic Aloe Vera. I brought it unopened from my Althea Ph Shopping. I haven't really plan on using it for my face, I'm saving it for sunburns, burns, but thank goodness for it.  It's halfway done. Fret not, there's Althea US
It works to calm the redness and swelling, and to relieve some of the itch. I generously slather it. I noticed that while it does the calming, I needed to manage the flaking and the dry skin.

Do I have Adult onset Eczema? I thought so. Ottoke?! 😱 So I tried the Aveeno Eczema Therapy Itch Relief Balm. I couldn't find the cream, so on that hasty trip to Target, I got the Balm and the Sunscreen. The Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion is a mainstay product for my son through the years.
Perhaps placebo effect, I thought the Eczema Therapy Balm is working. True, it doesn't feel greasy, but there's always that lingering moisturizer at work that doesn't really get absorb unlike a cream or a lotion. So when I layer it with the sunscreen, it feels and looks greasy.  So after two weeks on it, I went back to Calming Comfort Lotion, the same effect minus the greasiness.

Aveeno seemed to work more often than not. Later on, as I read along the ingredients, both the Eczema Balm and Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion are paraben-free etc. The Aveeno Skin Relief Overnight Cream is not. So  now, it's just one more body lotion for me to empty. I do like the scent of the Aveeno Skin Relief Gentle Scent Lotion.
For the past three weeks, I tried adding more in my skincare regimen (essence, oil, lotion), then there will be recurrence, so I go back to wash, Aloe-Vera and cream/balm. Lately, I tried changing my facial wash from the Innisfree Bija Trouble Facial Foam to the Innisfree Sea Salt Whipping Cleanser.

The gentle exfoliating sea salt and the whip cream-like cleanser offer a more luxurious cleansing experience. I tried it out for days, I'm keeping it. From just 3-steps, I'm now doing 4. I added back the Innisfree Bija Trouble Skin. So far, so good.
For a week now, I'm off anti-histamine. But I do still have spotty itchy bumps and rashes. So I thought I'll reach out to the good ol Lucas Papaw. Before, I tried healing a simple breakout with it, sometimes it works, sometimes not. I'm desperate, so I tried. True enough, it helps to relieve swelling, redness and the itching. Goodness gracious.

Lucas Papaw is a topical ointment that helps to relieve and cleanse boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites, and nappy rash.
Now testing The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser, soon The Body Shop Drops of Youth. Just today, I tried using the The Body Shop Vitamin C Moisturiser, I hope no more recurrence.
Taken August 13, 2017. Finally, selfie. 🀳🏼 #FOTD No makeup (foundation/bb cream/pact) only skincare creams + The Body Shop Lip Tint #ChubbyCheeksDontCare
Of the recommended ways to ease out the effects of stress on skin, I find exercising and getting enough sleep the hardest. I have no choice, it seems, in order to bid adieu to bad skin days, I run and exercise (finally...for three days now, props to me, wish me luck), and I'm sleeping earlier (meantime, no more Korean Drama binge watching). I can't wait to go back to 7-8-9-step skincare routine, I miss face masks. Korean skincare gods, please, please be nice, hear me out.  Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomEats | Trader Joe's Microwave Meals featuring Beef Shepherd's Pie

Annyeong, cinggu! πŸ€—

Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm expected to be a good cook because I'm Kapampangan. I guess I still have that cooking prowess waiting to be harnessed in time, but when you live half of your life in Manila, you sort of like instant, or deliveries, or dine-outs best. Hah.

Lucky me, there's Trader Joe's nearby...and with Trader Joe's, anyone can cook. Haha.

When the fridge space allows, I stock up on Trader Joe's Microwave Meals from $2.99-$4.99. The Meatballs Italian Style are delicious. Seriously, my husband's sweet and sour meatballs is the best I've had in years, both for the sauce and the meatballs.
Trader Ming's Pork Shu Mai Pork Dumplings (yes, pronounced shumai, not siomai) are comparable to Chinese' resto's siomai. If you eat them fresh off the microwave, they are tender, juicy, and flavorful.
Joe's Diner Mac 'n Cheese is my son's favorite instant Mac 'n Cheese to date. Easy peasy.
This post features the Beef Shepherd's Pie because for the first time, I used the conventional oven. Not the big oven, I just used our oven toaster (although the kind that has temperature selection). From my research, to avoid the moisture and have the baked golden brown mashed potato, best to remove the plastic film completely. I set the oven to 400 F at 40 mins.
Voila! Easy peasy Beef Shepherd's Pi. Let's eat.
In California, it seemed you are destined to be a good cook (if you have the time). Here, you have the softest beef (steak everyday), fresh fruits and vegetables in all kinds of varieties. The it. Mind you, I now use Himalayan pink salt. Yay.

But more often than not, please, my dear family, can we just sit back and enjoy instant microwave meals from Trader Joe's that I will whole heartedly prepare?! Cheers! ;-D

#ChicSassyMomEats | Ajisen Noodle #RamenTime 🍜

Chaseyboy is marathoning (for the nth time) Naruto, (oh I'm missing Japan now) and as expected, he needs his Ramen fix. We found Ajisen Noodle near us. Yay!

Ajisen Noodle (Ramen) in Fremont. We've been on a lookout for Ajisen since trying it out in Singapore.
This is our new favorite. Pork BBQ Ramen. It has more chashu (pork bbq). BBQ never fails. πŸ˜‹
All mine. Spicy Pork Miso Ramen. It's super spicy for my liking but I survived it, it's borderline Samyang Cheese Ramen level.
Classic Miso Ramen. It's okay. You can add chili oil and powder for added kick. The bean sprouts are refreshing addition. *Thinks pho
Strawberry and Green Tea Ice cream with Pocky Choco Sticks. Now I know where to get my Matcha Ice Cream fix. I can use two servings. 🍨
Ramen choices are the same. Except hubby is hoping to have the dry ramen, which he had in Singapore.
Nice, we're happy to have a go-to ramen place near us. Slurp. Ramen is highly addicting. Serving in Ajisen is okay for sharing though, but if it's the Pork BBQ Ramen, I can actually finish the whole bowl. Good luck. Hah. Oishii!!! What diet!? Cheers! ;-D

Ajisen Fremont is located at 47890 Warm Springs Blvd. Fremont, CA 94539
Call: 510-353-1133
Business Hour: Lunch 11:30 am - 2:00 pm (Sat - 3:30 pm) Dinner 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

P.S. When in Manila, check out Kitchitora or Shin Sen Gumi, when in LA.

#ChicSassyMomEats | Singapore's Irvins Salted Egg Chips Now in Manila #DangerouslyAddictive

Annyeong, cinggu! πŸ€— My FB timeline is flooded with friends' ravings on Irvins Salted Egg opening in SM Megamall Fashion Hall (as per Irvins' official IG it's on the Ground floor, Left of the Main Glass Door). Oh how I miss Irvins'.

Let me join the craze and decide for yourself if it's worth the trip and the queue.

Last April we went to Singapore, I was bitter for not making it to a Coldplay Concert in Manila so I decided to fix my broken heart with a trip. We probably decided with Singapore because we wanted to get our Salted Egg Chips fix. Seriously, we've been trying out several Manila versions, we had some hits and misses, average price of a bag of Salted Egg Potato Chips goes for Php 250. So we said, let's go to Singapore.

We were told that we need to be early to the store. It's just actually a kiosk in the mall. VivoCity is the adjacent mall to Sentosa, which was our itinerary for the day. The store opens 10 am. I guess we were there about that time since we wanted to have an early start to Sentosa.

Oh yes, there was already a line for the Irvins Salted Egg in VivoCity.
Irvins Salted Egg Singapore Dollar Prices $8 (150g) for small bag and $16 (230g) for big bag. I read that the price of Irvins in Manila Megamall branch is Php 300 for small bag and Php 600 for big bag. It's the same price!!!
There is a limit of 5 bags per person. The stocks are limited. Seriously, after lunch, it's all sold out.

There's three of us, so we got all our allocation of 15 bags. Happy Day.
Spot Irvins Salted Egg Chips. For the love of Irvins, we brought these along to our day trip in Sentosa. We took turns carrying them.
Chaseyboy can't wait (he doesn't like me to take his picture as much, time flies 🀦🏻‍♀️)  Snacking Irvins Salted Egg Potato Chips aboard a cable Car in Sentosa. πŸ˜‹
Irvins Salted Egg Fish Skin doesn't taste fishy at all. I still like Potato Chips better though.
There are local version of Salted Egg Potato Chips, to date we've identified two favorites, Bag of Crisps Salted Egg Chips (sold in Greenhills) and Golden Crisps by Chrisha's Kitchen. Price goes for Php 250. Hmmmm, now with the original in town, they might want to revisit the pricing. If you want to do-it-yourself, the Salted Egg Powder is also sold in Pioneer Center for about Php 800+ for a bag.

Irvin Salted Egg SM Megamall Manila Location

So happy for the fans of the cult favorite Irvins Salted Egg, no need to go to SG to hoard it, hello, baggage space savings, so more space to shop and of course still must see in Singapore, the Supergrove Trees and the Garden Rhapsody at the Gardens by the Bay, which I super love.

Chic and sassy's best to keep them in a colder room temperature, once we left ours in the car, there were moisture or some melting of the salted egg powder, it tasted a bit fishy. But mostly, no joke, seriously addictive. It's dangerous, I don't even know how much calories there are in a bag (is there? I didn't care to check, which is unusual because I usually do). Of the 15 bags, I guess we only gifted/shared 5. We ate most of it to our hearts and tummy's delight. What diet?! Cheers! ;-D

#FangirlModeOn | Be my yeobo, Lee Min Ho #ThrowbackThursday #LatePost

Annyeong, cinggu! I miss fangirling. I miss Lee Min Ho. I miss my cinggus. I miss Seoul.

I'm a proud Minoz, of all his Manila visits, I only missed the Kyochon in 2015. Then I started to dream big, so we fangirl in Seoul...our last soiree was a visit to Heo Joon Jae's house. I had a very special Lee Min Ho encounter, aaawwww, and it's so hard to outdo it. But I guess, last year's Bench "Be My Yeobo" fun meet was almost as grand. Two rows away from him, not bad. And I can't believe I did not post about it here, though I did in IG @chicsassymom.

We're happy fangirls. Gomawo, cinggu for the media pass.

Love. Love. Love.

Fangirling is extra challenge here. I can go to KCon and pay hefty amount, but my my, that's like the cost of my Seoul fangirling + shopping. Wise to settle with KDrama bingeing (I have to use wise, because more often than not, you just drop everything for the love of fangirling 😱). To top it off, I'm so green with all the close and memorable encounters of fellow fans with oppa Lee Min Ho in Gangnam Station. I kid you not, we've been in Gangnam Station before too to see someone else. Haha. It's not impossible to really be up close with our oppa who are stationed to serve military duty there. Sadness. It must be that I'm having separation anxiety from all the fangirling opportunities that I'm missing out in Manila, there's Park Shin Hye's Fun meet, and Nam Joo Hyuk's upcoming Manila Visit on September 23, 2017.  KFangirls, unite. I can do this. Aja! Aja! Fighting! Cheers! Geonbae! ;-D
