Success: Hair Color Correction

Finally, after my first attempt to color my hair again after that unfateful DIY hair coloring mishaps, there's a brighter future ahead of my precious locks. As pre-salon visit, weeks before, I cut my hair shorter again. Just to really free it from the darkened colors. Although, it was so tempting to go for DIY yet again for economical reason, but oh I paid so much for that hair color darkening aftermath, so would shy away from it for the mean time. This time, I told the stylist, Josh of Envy Me Salon and Spa in Robinson's Galleria, of that mishap. Instead of getting the promo rate for the hair color, I had to pay instead for a hair color correction, which is a bit more pricey at Php 3000 vs. Php 2000 for just hair coloring. Obviously, it required more extensive work. He assured me that it's safe and effective. Best part, I can have a brighter, more even hair color streaks after the color correction.

Here we go again. ;-D
Step 1: Hair Lightening, which was done just at the tips or bottom 1/3 of my hair. 1/3 top (crown) is black , which is my original hair color. 2/3 mid-part is a brighter color from last time. 1/3 bottom part is dark, uneven colors from the hair coloring darkening mishap last time.
Very quickly, about 15 minutes after. Hair Lightening is done! Yay! I see bleaching colors! ;-D

Love Ms. Piggy: ElarZ Lechon

Dinner last night was superb! #Guilty Pleasure to the highest cholesterol level

Ordered Php300 worth of Lechon (about 400g) at ElarZ Pioneer Centre Branch.
Guaranteed Fatty & Crispy-licious Skin. Love, love, lovety, love! ;-D
Don't forget the Lechon Sauce. So good. Has a BBQ-ish flavor.
Yum! ;-D
Sells for Php 360 for 500g. Oh well, for those momentary cravings, "I want to eat Ms. Piggy today!"  ElarZ Lechon is it!

P.S. I made sure to drink a hot cup of green tea after. Hah. As if... ;-D

Let's try: MAC Cosmetics Style Seeker Collection

I own more Apple MAC gadgets than MAC Cosmetics. Hah. Few days ago, I was on my way to a dinner event, when I chanced upon a friend, Bibet, who's a Guest Make Up artist. Yay! #Lucky Night This is it!  Chance to try MAC. #Late Bloomer

What's to Love?
  • Super lightweight feel
  • Satiny finish
  • Blends easily
  • No Breakouts
  • Brightening, I glow! I'm lucky to have a generally great skin relative to my age, but this makes it even look better. ;-D
  • A-okay sebum control, works even better if you set it with a powder
  • With Gold Caviar, I love. See here why
  • With SPF, that doesn't leave white cast
What's not to love?
  • For me, none. It's absolutely perfect for my skin type (combination and sensitive skin). The no-makeup feel is a really big plus.
  • For others, the coverage is really light to medium, so a concealer for pigmentation, acne marks, etc. is needed.
  • Not available locally, thank goodness for Korean Online Cosmetic stores.
Will I repurchase?
  • I'm keeping a handful of these miniatures. But if I run out, I'll definitely cant't live without it buy.
Overall, I might have only ravings and praises for it, but my sister, who has a different skin type from me (Oily & Sensitive) doesn't like it much. She's still super loyal to SkinFood Peach Sake, which is not the case for me. So generally, it's still a matter of suitability and preference. I don't need a lot of coverage, so this works for me. Thankfully, there are a trial sizes, packs and miniatures available, so you can actually go on a trial spree to find that perfect match. ;-D

Mission Accomplished: Camouflage Themed Birthday

Hi everyone! Whew, well done! My son's, General Chase, birthday bash was such a blast! Our overwhelming gratefulness to our friends and family. Plus, I owe a great deal to my best ever party suppliers. You made us all so happy! This is just part 1, an overview. I'm compelled to novelize each and every detail of the party. ;-D
Attention! My son, adorned with his General Gala Costume. It's a DIY. ;-D   Ravings and Praises to my balloon and dessert stations party suppliers -- Say It With Balloons and All About Sweets Manila. I will post official, professional photos of the station next. So nice.
Forgive the focus on the crepe paper vs. the stage. Camouflage/Soldier Black Ops/Modern Warfare inspired stage set-up. Kiddie Tables and Chairs with theme table cloth, part of my birthday box goodies from Party City, USA.
Balloon Venue Set-up by Mommy Cherry of Say It With Balloons. I provided the Tank Balloon Centerpieces, and the ceiling swirl decorations. I love the elegant appeal of the set-up.
Prestige Tower  Party Venue
Made to Order Pull String Tank Pinata supplier that I found on Sulit/Multiply. ;-D I just added the camouflage theme birthday streamers a la crepe paper.  I filled it with 3Kg of assorted imported candies. Too heavy though. But it was a hit! ;-D
Loot Bags, Prizes, and Giveaways. For the prizes, I'm too pressed for time to go to Divisoria, so I went to Toys R Us. I got about 40 pieces of prizes (20 major/20 minor). Too busy, I had not time to document in details.
Loot Bags and Mini wooden stools. For the Loot bags, I used the favor pack camouflage theme from Party City, and just added candies. Plus express orders of mini stools from Mommy Cris of Paete Wood and Paper Crafts. I ordered 50 pcs (10 pcs with pink camouflage prints). So nice and totally worth it. ;-D
We also handed out theme Thank "Tank" You cards. Signed by Chase. ;-D
For the party host, I got Diane Santos. Found her at Sulit/Mutiply as well. Success! So good. We also got other entertainment package from her. So nice. I will novelized soon.
Chic Sassy Mom, General Chase, and Dad, our thanks to everyone who joined us in this joyous occasion. ;-D
Alright, I hope I covered everything. More novelized posts coming right up (ASAP!), like the DIY General Gala Costume of Chase, the details of the dessert station by All About Sweets Manila, the sumptuous food and the superior customer service of the whole staff of Prestige Tower etc. Happy Birthday to our beloved son, Chase! Cheers! ;-D

Never too old to follow the nail polish trend of one finger different color, please indulge me. #Young at Heart *LoL It's usually the ring finger. But this is my fashion ring finger. *LoL The wedding band goes officially to my left, ring finger. All the fashion rings, goes to my index finger.
Orly Spark. So sunny!
Swatch. OPI Jade is the New Black. Go Green! ;-D

It's OPI + ORLY for moi. Twice the love. Yay! ;-D
NOTD: Jade and Spark. Green and Yellow. ;-D
My screen cap of  (Jung Yoo Mi)  Hong Se Na's trendy nail polish from Rooftop Prince Episode 17. Right hand, the yellow shade is at the index finger.

It's super, as in, the most affordable mani and pedi in the Metro for me.  Php 150 + Php 170 for both service, plus they have an ongoing promotion, less 30% off on all regular services. #Winner The service is really nice. It's a full service deluxe manicure and pedicure. So nice. I pray that these pretty nails will see Sunday through for the party, you ought to know I'm so clumsy. I'll show and tell come party day. It's Friday, and I'm in love. Cheers! ;-D

My MacBook Pro is Alive!

Hello everyone. I've been M.I.A. again (so what else is new). Couple with my amazing busy-ness, I actually have a more valid reason, I thought that my beloved MacBook died on me. It was super scary. I was even quick to say, oh Apple, you're making not love you. Anyhow, here's the story of my MacBook's 2nd life.

See the X sign on my battery.
I noticed that suddenly my AC adapter was not lighting up ( either orange or green), at first I though it was a case of loose connections. It's an easier and cheaper problem, I thought, it meant that I have to replace one. But not before having to try cleaning the contact points both from the computer and the adapter that I noticed the X sign on my battery. In the hardware part, it displayed that there was no Battery installed. Panic. And then there was a bothersome fan sound. I read in the forum that you need to do some resetting, it sounded complicated so I just asked hubby to drop it off at the Mac Store in Rockwell. After some time, they advised my hubby we had to bring it to the service center, because they only do system/software related issues, since it seemed it's a hardware, I needed to bring it to the service center.

To my dismay but as expected, battery is consumable and not covered by warranty (I read that even it's more than the one year warranty if without AppleCare, this is deemed as a hardware problem), so regardless, I need to replace it, and that's about $100 in the Apple Store, so it should be something similar to than amount. I was bothered deeply *LoL, so it means that the battery life expectancy of a MacBook Pro bought later 2010, is only about 1.5 years. Not good. Bad. I was busy so I delayed a visit to the service center. Surprisingly, it has still enough power to allow me to open, to shutdown, and to open it again over a 3-day period (it happened Saturday). Vs. paying outright Php 4K++, if it's a battery indeed, or the adapter, I committed myself to be techie. It was so very easy!

Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on MacBook with a battery you should not remove on your own.
It's alive! No more X on the battery! ;-D
So, MacBook guys in Rockwell, aren't you brief on this diagnostic step? It's in the Apple page. Yes, the fan sound went away too. The real test is when I plugged the power adapter, and yes, it worked too! Happiness overload much! ;-D

I'm at 695 Battery Cycle Count. Average for this model is at 1000. Oh my, panic, more than halfway.
Alright, I'm not really entirely careful, I overcharged (sometimes), and let it show a distressful low battery sign before I charge. But with the nightmare over me, I'm now being extra diligent and caring. Yay, my precious MacBook is alive, and I can blog! Cheers! ;-D

Cupcake Cake: Almost Wordless Wednesday

Hello everyone. Last weekend was my nephew's 6th birthday. And you ought to know we love to party. Here's the sweetest part, the birthday cake/s. ;-D

Batman Theme Birthday Cupcake Cake. It's cake No. 2 for his school birthday. It's customary to have a separate birthday party at home and at school. See my post on his previous Toy Story School Birthday Party. ;-D
Batman Cake No. 1 for his birthday party at home.
Batman Foil Balloon, Plus DIY balloon set ups. For his birthday, my sister asked our ever-reliable, super affordable, favorite caterer in Angeles City.
Here's the deal with the Cupcakes Cake. It's actually made of cupcakes. This is about 30 pieces adjoining cupcakes. The cakes were all from Lailen's Pastries. I have to say that this is affordable, and more practical. It's easy to serve. Saves you from needing separate dessert plates. ;-D
So good to be back. I. Miss. Blogging. This is such a sweet post a la perfect reminiscence of current Korean Drama that I'm watching, Panda and Hedgehog. Watch for yourself, and you'll see what I mean. *LoL
