FOTD: Nature Republic + Asian Cosmetics Love

As many of you know by now, yesterday was a big day for me. I wanted to look extra-nice. Haha. ;-D There was also an ongoing contest with Nature Republic, I was hoping to join, but I chickened out. I'm not really fond of the whole voting per se. ;-D Anyhow, here's it.

Happy Anniversary to me! ;-D
Pact/Setting Powder: Nature Republic Vanilla Sky Pact Shade No. 23
Eyes: Nature Republic Pretty Tree Wood Eyeliner in Blue/ Mascara: Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Volume Glamour On dusted with SkinFood Gold Caviar Moist Brightening Powder Ball

Earrings by Accessorize (of course!)

It's been a while since I adorned my hair too...This flower clip is very special! ;-D I actually used it on my civil wedding 9 years ago. :-D And while we're at this photo, I love the turn out of my lashes. Majolica Majorca Mascara + Lashem Lash Gel (review coming soon) both do wonder for my lashes. Love!!!
Trying out Nature Republic's of Vanilla Sky Pact with flash.
Nature Republic Vanilla Sky Pact without flash.
The pact comes with a puff and a removable clear plastic separator. smells vanilla. ;-D It comes with an embossed vanilla orchid. :-D
Nature Republic lovelies used: Vanilla Sky Pact, Petit Cherry Rouge, and Pretty Tree Wood Eyeliner from my recent NR haul.
I still find doing eye makeup challenging, so for the mean time, I'm just eyeliner + mascara type of girl. For oil control, and setting though, I love dusting the SkinFood Gold Caviar Moist Brightening powder before, and thereafter. I'm loving the subtle shimmer effect. It's sunny and humid (as most of the time) yesterday, but overall, I love the natural dewy, healthy glow effect that these Asian cosmetics ensemble offered me. ;-D

Hmmm, so what do yo think? Any more Asian brands that I need to set my heart on? Please do tell. ;-D

Anniversary Date with Jack Daniel's

To my Facebook friends, they would know that our 9th year anniversary picture posted yesterday was by far the most popular wall post it! ;-D Thank you all so much! Anyhow, we had advanced our anniversary treat by getting a new gadget. So we didn't plan an elaborate escapade. So it's another round of T.G.I.Friday's for us.

Jack Daniel's Steak Php 1385++...we just love Jack Daniel's sauce, as in! We split it in two, and got additional orders of the cheddar cheese mashed potatoes. I honestly believe that I can finish the whole serving (8 oz). Haha! ;-D It's really that good. But it's a bit pricey, so I'm saving it for our next visit.
Bacon Cheeseburger Php's a must try, they said...had to agree! :-D
The Jack Daniel's Steak comes with a soup of the day. It's another creamy, potato loaded soup. Notice: Diet officially moved today (December 1).
Hubby, almost done with his portions of the Jack Daniel's steak. In his mind, he's regretting he shared the steak with me. Haha. ;-D  But seriously, the steak was my idea. I was just being modest that I can't finish the full serving. That tall drink is a complimentary Birthday treat as a Bistro Card Holder. His birthday was few days ago. ;-D
We're stuffed. We're supposed to have a round of dessert, but we're too full...dizzy even. Haha. ;-D So we went to do some walking.

We're ready to go back home...but not without stopping at ResToeRun. ;-D
Can you guess my gifts? Clue: It's another brand that I'm really head over heels in love. ;-D

Awww... ;-D
While we're doing our photo op (sort of), Chase was eating his lunch. ;-D
November 30, 2011 was such a great day. Thank You Lord for the gift of love and family. ;-D
And now, it's December! Yay! ;-D's truly the most wonderful time of the year! ;-D

Sigma delivers for the 2nd time ;-D

It's such a great day today! :-D But this post is not about that just yet, I'll just quickly rave about Sigma. It's not a product review per se, but I'm grateful for their consideration. Remember few months back, September 1st week, I run a Sigma Buffer F45 giveaway. It's suppose to be a review and a giveaway thereafter, but the shipping was taking longer than expected, although international standard shipping is said to take up to 8 weeks . I knew that there was a delivery mishap when I received couple of items from the US-based company (for review), which were sent even at later dates. I knew that it was a parcel lost in oblivion. I brought it up to Sigma, you know, just in case, but they told me to weather the 8 weeks delivery threshold. This is also in a way to appease me that my future purchases from them will actually reach me. Soon after, I informed them. I'm sure they have a monitoring of some sort on the delivery receipts, anyhow. So they just told me that they'll send a replacement. Bless them. ;-D

Tada! ;-D 11 days after the shipment notification, it finally reached me! ;-D The running rate of shipping days from the US to Angeles City, Philippines with standard USPS is about 2 weeks max, while FedEx shipment took less than a week with a tracking number even. I love my city post office, Mr. Postman just happily delivers EMS/USPS parcels to my home address, and I just pay the Php 40 fee.  ;-D
Sigma Buffer F45 brush ;-D
I'm off to trying this out. And then, I might get one of these new Sigma lovelies too. ;-D

Farmer Chase ;-D

I relish the fact that my 6 year old son, Chase, is taking a special tendre in growing plants. And I have his school to thank for that. :-D In my heart, I know that he's a bit bothered with all the calamities such as the the earthquake and the tsunami in Japan. He's also well aware of that Mt. Pinatubo is something close at home. And experiencing a volcanic eruption is a reality for most of us. He actually asked me few days ago if trees can prevent lava flow. I told him, with much optimism, that in some way they can. So he really wanted to do his share of planting. He's even asking for his own set of garden tools. ;-D But since we don't really have our own garden per se, we told him that he can plant all he likes in his grandparents' farm lots in the province, so his namesake Farmer Chase came about. ;-D

Chase marveling at the sights off a magnifying glass. ;-D Photo Credit: Preschoolville Official Photos
Chase goes to Preshoolville as a Prep (Kinder2) student. Last year, for the culminating activity of "Growing Plants"  month, they went to Kapu Garden. And this was a photo taken of him holding a bromeliad. Haha. ;-D Caught in the act. Photo Credit: Teacher Rej
This time, they were asked to bring a plant for their "Green Day" celebration. We didn't have a small potted plant, so we had to buy on our way to the school.

Coincidentally, he chose to get a baby bromeliad too, which sells for Php 100. ;-D
I grew up with my parents' constant reminders that the only treasure they can leave us is a quality education. I have cherished this greatest treasure ever since. We are also committed in nurturing education to my son. But today more than ever, a greater calling to us as educators is the need to teach our children to be steward of nature's gifts as well. A Greener Earth is our greatest legacy and inheritance to our children. It's what should compels us foremost to work together to save the environment.

I'm thankful that he learns this earnestly in school too...and he's having a mighty great time in doing so! ;-D
Chase is showing off keen interest in taking care of this plant. He reminds me to water it. I read that Bromeliad can thrive under normal household conditions, even by once a week watering. Mostly, just to also avoid bacteria and fungus build up. Or better yet, just to mist it with water frequently. The flower bud can last for about 4 months. I hope under Chase's watchful eyes, it'll live up that long. ;-D
It's such a pretty plant, so I decided to depot it and grace our side table with it. I think it compliments the whole Christmas-y theme of Red and Green. ;-D.
I think it looks Christmasy. Instead of getting Poinsettia, I might get a few more of the Bromeliads. ;-D

Review: Lashem Double Trouble Mascara

I dream of long, voluminous lashes. I'm so tempted to do extensions even, or just join the craze in d.i.y. lash kit application. But my hesitations remains, I love dramatic results, but not all the time, and I don't want it to shout "falsey", believe me, I'll just end up being too conscious, hence too obvious of the pretense of it all! ;-D And I have super sensitive eyes. It must be wish come true that LASHEM, a brand dedicated to eye/lash beauty care sent me two items, which I'm coveting much...Double Trouble Mascara and Lash Gel. I'll do the mascara review today.

LASHEM Double Trouble Mascara 6ml sells fro $19.99+ online.
Product features, ingredients, and usage are written on the box in English and in French. While the actual product comes in a silver tube packaging with one end Volumizing, and the other end for Lengthening.
Product Description: Double Trouble Mascara adds definition and intense dimension for seductive sultry eyes. One end contains flexible fibers to give you luscious, voluptuous lashes. The other end gives you longer, fuller lashes. The Double Trouble Mascara creates the illusion of bigger, bolder, beautiful lashes that go the distance.

Recommended Usage: For best results, apply the volumizing black mascara first, and then finish with the lengthening fiber black mascara for those Double Trouble lashes.

Although, they can be used separately depending on your need. Based on mine, I would want to indulge in the promise of fuller and longer lashes, so I use one after the other. ;-D

Wands come in varying design based on the proposed benefits. Swatch. Remember my drawbacks on how runny the Majolica Majorca's formula could get, this one is the exact opposite. This dries faster. Downside, it takes several several series of swipe-then-dip from the tube to get a good pigment.
There's a noticeable difference after applying the Volumizing. Albeit, very minimal with the Lengthening after. P.S. I don't use eye lash curlers, because I usually end up having red, puffy eyes. I'm expecting a lot from the mascara to do a bit of lifting and curling per se.
Overall, it ends up not too dramatic because it lacks the intense black pigment, but it delivers a bit of lifting, curling, and volumizing. :-D
  • It's not waterproof, but it's smudge proof!...formula doesn't transfer to my glasses, and can even withstand sweat and oil. It actually lasted me 2 events, about 6 hours, without running or smudging.
  • Non-irritating.
  • It's easy to apply, it barely clumps too.
  • It's a big plus too that despite of having a great staying power, it's so easy to remove.
  • To get more pigments, and more dramatic lifts and expansions, you have to do several series of swiping-dipping. By that time, I can't help but get impatient, hence clumsily poking my eyes even. Ouch!
  • It takes getting used to on which side to open and to hold, since the labels come in small notations.
  • It a bit pricey for $19.99 ++ shipping.
FOTD...BB Cream: Luview Crystal Cover;  Eyeliner: SkinFood Sweet Almond; Mascara: Lashem Double Trouble; Lips: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo.
Overall, I love the natural lash lift and definition. It's something I don't mind applying everyday since it's almost no frills, and it takes easier to remove...super friendly to my sensitive eyes. I have to say that it's a keeper. It will remain as my basic, everyday eye makeup. Will I repurchase?  Maybe, if they have a compelling promotional deal, like this. ;-D

Lashem's November 28, 2011 Holiday Gift Set Sale...Buy 1 Lash Gel + 1 Mascare  + Free Shipping for only $25 dollars. :-D Not to preempt, but the Lash Gel is something I want to stock on. ;-D

Leyende's Real Benefits Campaign

I think I was in Grade 2 that I bought my first material gifts to my parents. It was a 4-pc drinking glass set, which was about Php 50. Ever since then, modesty aside, I love giving gifts. Through time, I try not to falter, although it varies depending on my monetary state.;-D But I truly save for the occasions of gift givings. It must be that higher reason, I dare not boast. Or it must be that I truly love shopping... be it for me, or others. ✌ But since we're on that festive season, as we prepare to buy gifts for our family and friends, as individuals, we're also invited to do our share of social responsibilities. It is said that the greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you can only do little, instead do what you can. As foremost a consumer in the commercial structure, we can do our share by supporting and patronizing companies and brands hinge on good causes. It's on those immeasurable and random acts of kindness that we reap far better rewarding experience, IMHO. ;-D

I'm truly privileged to know another Proudly Filipino Made Brand in the name of Leyende on their recent Real Benefits Campaign Launch, which is geared toward Holiday Shopping Holiday on a new, socially-relevant dimension.
I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I'm not yet fully on board on "Buy Filipino Products" when it comes to my skin and beauty care regimen. So I will not pretend that I'm a reliable person to speak of Leyende brand just yet, although hopefully not for long. ;-D

From the Spanish word leyenda, meaning “legend” or “story,” Leyende is an emerging Filipino brand of handmade, natural and organic bath and body products following eco-friendly, artisanal principles.
As aforesaid, the event last Thursday, was to kickoff the Real Benefits Campaign.

Introducing Leyende's Limited Edition Inspired Gifts for the Holidays...The Mother Butter Moisturizing Cocoa Butter Cream, The Beach Bomb Cologne, and The Clean Slate Multi-tasking Face Cleanser.
  • Mother Butter Cocoa Butter Body Moisturizer in Limited Edition Packaging with Crocheted Sleeve made from Recycled Plastic Bags 100mL sells for P450.00
    • Save a Mother, Save the Future! For every purchase of limited edition Mother Butter, you stave off stretchmarks and dry skin, and contribute P100 to help UNICEF's Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare Program reach more expectant women in need from remote areas.
  • Beach Bomb Cologne in Limited Edition Packaging with Crocheted Wings Lariat 50mL sells for P450.00
    • The Sweet Scent of Freedom! For every purchase of limited-edition Beach Bomb cologne, the refreshing blend of aloe, vetiver and coconut essences lifts the spirits, knowing that P100 of it goes directly to the daily needs and rehabilitation costs of the residents of Marillac Shelter for Women.
  • Clean Slate Multi-tasking Face Cleanser in Limited Edition Packaging with Crocheted Waterdrop Phone Charm 100mL sells for P450.00
    • Wash away ignorance! For every purchase of limited edition Clean Slate Multi-tasking Face Cleanser that cleanses skin without overdrying or stripping off natural oils, you donate P100 to the Project H.OU.S.E. College Fund, which is going to sponsor the education of at-risk, out-of-school youth who undergo work-study program with Messy Bessy worry-free, ecofriendly household cleaners.
I'm using the Mother Butter Cocoa Butter Cream, and I love it. It reminds me a bit of Palmer's, which I was an avid user during my pre/post pregnancy days. Only, this one is way better in terms of lingering scent, minus the grease. Plus, it's organic, and all natural. Seriously, Mother Butter is lightweight! ;-D So for the past days and nights, I'm lavishly applying it all over, hoping for some kind of miracle that it's not too late, and I can still do something on my unsightly stretch marks. Or just indulge in sweet scented and moisturized state all throughout. ;-D
So I'm compelled to try more. Trivial, but I love the black and white artwork theme too. Of course, I'm for one in supporting this campaign, so expect my gifts to be something of this kind. ;-D
