Shoes off, please! ๐Ÿ™‰ | #Petpeeve #OCD #AsianMom

It's probably Asian or cultural thing, but my biggest pet peeve among many other things is (people) blazing across the house with shoes on. ๐Ÿ™ŠWe've been trained to remove our shoes. We have house slippers, bathroom slippers, and what have you. Tsinelas. Going barefoot is an option too. Except, you'll probably never see the end of it, to be endlessly lectured by elders of how you will have varicose veins etc. with walking on cold floors. Overtime, life happens, we moved out, stayed in dormitories, and just like that we're renting our own place. My rule in our house, strictly no shoes. Philippine or Asian setting, when visiting, we take the lead in removing them, more often than not, we get the cue from the homeowners, if we're entering together, if we see that they removed their shoes (believe me, this is the hint that we give out, I do too) and changed to a pair of house slippers, we must do the same (obviously, we need a clean, nice pair of socks or well pedicured feet to boot every time because you'll just never know). Sometimes, there are exclusions not to take them off, if there's a party or something. I'll take that, I wouldn't want to be the only one walking on bare foot while everyone sashays with their shoes on (hello, all germs on my feet/socks!๐Ÿ™„) Anyhow, it's easier to clean up where every floor is mostly just moppable, and it should be easy since we have helpers to do the after-party clean up back home. (I miss Manila life!๐Ÿคซ) But here in America, thank you, Swiffer!

Weekend. It's nice to see our house slippers all outside our bedroom doors, everybody is home. #SimpleJoy
Confessions be told. There is another urban legend that says we  (Asian moms and aunties #TitasofManila ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป‍♀️) tend to bring home stuff from the hotel like the amenities etc. I did that too, but overtime, I only did it if they are Hermes or Lanvin or L'occitane.  But what I don't fail to take, and even to request extras, are pairs of hotel slippers. I re-use them as guest slippers. So friends would normally take the cue, if I offer them house slippers, then they should know I mean business. ๐Ÿ˜…I take a mental note on which carpeted areas I need to remember to also clean, and believe me when I say, I do after-party clean up seriously. This is the same case in America, remember we moved to a new apartment, it's less stressful now that the house is not carpeted. There is a certain level of stress involved on this issue. Hah. The rule is to really take the cue from the homeowner, be it a family, friend or acquaintance.  I normally would want to do it the subtle approach, but promise, I'm so tempted to hang a sign that straight out says, "Shoes off, pretty please! " Believe me, it's easier to wear bedroom slippers than carpet the whole world (but this only applies when others see eye to eye with you, if not, it gets more toxic if you carpet the whole world and they just insist on wearing shoes๐Ÿ™ˆ, good luck!). It pays to offer first, please. I mean well. Seriously. Sincerely. I hope you do the same.

While this practice or removing your shoes can be rooted to have more cultural significance in other Asian countries (e.g. Japan, Thailand, South Korea), it is still basically hinged on emphasis to cleanliness. You can call it a pet peeve or OCD, here's how I explain it to my son (and hubby) you walk on the streets, on your school bathroom, and wherever with all of the bacterias, dirts, grime, germs, etc. in the world and you then walk around our house (like a boss) with the same shoes, and for sure, just even for a moment, you have to take them off, walk on barefoot, and pretty soon you're ready for sleep, you jump step on your bed, the pillows and blanket will one way or another touch that area where now the germs happily congregate, and then you sleep on that pillow, cuddle, snuggle, cover yourself on that blanket, and so there it goes, everything is on your face. In fact, there's another level to it, because our rooms are carpeted, we normally leave the slippers outside our bedroom. And we don't bring them to the bathroom too. It's another layer of germ and bacteria lessons, I'll just leave it as that. This level of paranaoia house rule is further taken into another level with my sister working for Infection Control of the hospital, she literally sees germs anywhere!๐Ÿ™‰ I know, they are everywhere, this is just us, mitigating the risks with one can of Lysol spray, box of Swiffer, bottle of Clorox wipes, and a pair of tsinelas to swat the germs away. Hah. ๐Ÿ˜…Let's do this! Aja! Aja! Fighting! ✨

Current Everyday Makeup Routine and #FOTD | #ChicSassyMomFinds #BeautyTalk

Hello, gorgeous people! ๐Ÿค— I've been busy conquering Bay Area, vying for Ms. Friendship (#SalesLife ๐Ÿ˜…) so I have very little time to do makeup so I keep my everyday make up routine short but sweet. (That, plus I already have a very complicated skincare routine, so I don't think I'll still survive not getting late my day with an elaborate makeup routine on top of it). Oh well, makeup is art and beauty is spirit. But first, makeup.

Jo Malone English Oak and Redcurrant | Face: Secret Key Tattoo Cover Cushion | Lips: Anastacia Beverly Hills Sugar Plum, Kylie Lip Kit Posie K, Koko Okurr, Suvana Pawpaw & Honey Balm | Eyes: Eyeko | Brows: Brow Mates by The Brow Studio , KPalette | Cheeks: Benefit Cosmetics Cheek Parade
These are my current must-haves to pull of an easy peasy makeup routine (just like last time), which I sort of perfected overtime with lots of practice. It took me tremendous effort to learn how to wear Kylie lipsticks, I have quite a stash of lipsticks, but now I have to admit that Kylie Matte Lipsticks are my source of pride and joy. ๐Ÿ’‹It's not even hard to remove them, just take my Keto dinner (very oily food ๐Ÿ˜…) and voila, all gone. The eyes and brows do take most of my time. I finally find a good-enough replacement for my ever reliable Kanebo Kate eye liner with Eyeko. Now for the brows, my, my, I have a full brows and that's altogether a source of unique problem because I need to keep them clean or they go wild. #KillerKilay But I need to fill in some gaps here and there, so I use Brow Mates from The Brow Studio and KPalette to lighten them and just to match my hair color. I rarely do mascara given that I'm wearing glasses (and I'm too lazy to remove heavy eye makeup). Benefit Cosmetics Cheek Palette is such a joy to have, every girl working mom's must have. The biggest surprise and addition to my makeup routine is Secret Key.

Secret Key Tattoo Cover Cushion is love, love, love. #Favorite
I have it for quite awhile from my not so recent purchase at Althea, but it's only recently that I finally gave it a try. Oh my, I love it. And so, bring on the selfies. ๐Ÿคณ๐Ÿผ

Me (wearing Koko Collection Gorg), Myself (Anastacia Beverly Hills Sugar Plum), and I (wearing Kylie Lipkit Posie K) #FOTD ✌๐Ÿป๐Ÿคซ
For whatever reason, the Jo Malone English Oak and Redcurrant is my autumn scent, and it never fails to solicit inquiry on what scent I'm wearing. It's unique, at least to me, and beautifully empowering. With pink lips to boot, I can rule the world! These have been sources of engaging, animated, and joyful conversations. I just need to win the Ms. Friendship award and achieve my sales targets. ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐ŸปLet's do this! Aja! Aja! Fighting! ✨

Fighting Flu with One Essential Oil Blend at a Time ✌๐Ÿป| #ChicSassyMomFinds

Hello, beautiful people! ๐Ÿค— I've been busy. (Oh well, busy is good. )

Hubby is down with the man flu all week. ๐Ÿ˜ทNot just flu, take that, man flu. Man flu, apparently defined as an illness that cause the male species to be helpless and sicker than any family member. ✌๐ŸปIn females, like yours truly, it's just a cold. ๐Ÿ˜…

We couldn't afford to be sick, thank goodness for essential oils, and among other things, so far, we're good.

Currently, under the influence of essential oils. #WitchOils #Oilbularyo
Because I needed something potent to diffuse, I reached out to Edens Garden's Guardian Synergy Blend. Except, its pitfall is the usual you know it's really supposedly healthy and good for you, but the scent is just not for everybody. I guess, it's the strong clove scent that lingers. Here's the workaround...Morning Blend: 5 drops of Guardian, 10 drops of Eucalyptus, and 5 drops of Lemon. Night Blend: 5 drops of Guardian, 10 drops of Eucalyptus, and 5 drops of Lavender.

I'm now a fan of the blend. I love the spiced minty lemon in the morning. And thankfully, the lavender, like a clockwork, gets me to sleep, so no Korean/Chinese drama marathons for me.

But sincerely, it's not just that because flu season is upon us,  but truly, it pays to be on the side of caution, taking baby steps to healthier us...good night sleep, over dose of vitamins, healthy food choices, and just falling under the magical spells of essential oils. I swear, I'm charmed. ✨

Lee Joon Gi and Deng Lun for Fendi | #FangirlModeOn #KDramaInspiredShopping

Annyeong! ๐Ÿค—OMO, so I'm such a fangirl that I eat, live, love, breathe, sleep, dress, and shop Chinese and Korean drama-inspired. Shocks, before Deng Lun, I only live for Lee Joon Gi and Korean Dramas, but now, oh my, I need them both in my hopeless, drama addict, romantic life. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค”#FangirlProblems

In fairness, as fate would have it, my oppa (Lee Joon Gi) and dongsaeng (Deng Lun) recently sported Fendi. Fabulous.

Lee Joon Gi for Elle Men HK sporting Fendi
Deng Lun for Fendi x Fila Collaboration
Oh my, my fangirl heart is full. The iconic inverted Zucca or "FF" logo is truly so back, and oh my,  two of my favorite artists in the whole wide world are wearing it.

So here's why I'm mighty superficially happy...I have a belt and a vintage Fendi Zucca Mama bag (thanks to my fairy godmother, who happily handed me down her Fendi bag). So my fangirl heart is it! Double F, feel na feel ko. ๐Ÿ™ˆ#FeelingClose #FeelingConnected

Reversible Fendi Belt
Vintage Fendi Zucca Mama Forever Shoulder Bag
Side story. Because I take the BART, Bay Area Rapit Transit in San Francisco, I normally don't wear branded stuff that shouts designer (hello, LV and Gucci). I learned my lesson the hard way sometime ago. I know Fendi from a long time ago because of my mom and aunts, but over time, even with the cutie Monster bags and charms, you can actually get away with wearing Fendi without being too loud about wearing the brand even with the classic Double F logo, it will just be drowned in the sea of Louis Vuitton bags out there. Safe. So it's my everyday bag when commuting, this, or a Chloe Paraty or a Balenciaga bag. It's so light, and low maintenance (except for the hardwares). The belt is a delight to wear. I'm content to own one of each, until Lee Joon Gi and Deng Lun came along wearing Fendi...loud and proud, and mighty handsome with it. I need a matching outfit to boot! ๐Ÿ™‰Reality check. Fendi is just one brand they wear. They'll be wearing others. I'm so tempted right now to get the matching bag  and cap of Deng Lun. I tend to do that, I have a matching shoes with Lee Joon Gi... oh well, #CrazyAsianFangirl in the house. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป‍♀️

Oh well, what to do when I feel that expensive superficial connection fuels my fangirl heart. Life of a KDrama and CDrama drama addict is not for the faint of heart. Believe me, everyday there's an internal discourse  over why, why, why go cray, cray over them, and I should just stop and get a life. Hah! ๐Ÿ˜…But oh well, for me, it's my ultimate anti-aging and coping mechanism to survive real life dramas.  It's truly a blessing when you have a real life oppa that supports your quirkiness and capriciousness like yours truly. Me, myself and I: drama addict + drama-inspired shopping = deadly! Wish me luck! Aja! Aja! Fighting! ✌๐Ÿป

Raising a teenager...Thank God for Dramas | #ChicSassyMomxUSA

Annyeong! ๐Ÿค—Oh my, so last week was pleasantly hectic, and then just like that, Chaseyboy is thirteen!!!๐Ÿ˜…Hello, my teenager! ๐Ÿ™„

You ought to know that I started this blog foremost because of Chaseyboy's birthday parties , which I made it a life's purpose to do so. Hah.

Chaseyboy's birthdays through the years. ๐ŸŽ‚
His last big party was on his 7th birthday, and we're slowly transitioning to small, intimate parties with just family and friends. I always volunteers to host a party every time, though he always ends up saying not to throw him a party anymore and he just wants family time. Oh well, for his 13th birthday, until the very last minute, he cannot believe that I went full party mode with balloons and all. Hello! Except for the after-party clean up, it's almost effortless to do DIY party here with Party City and Nothing Bundt Cake so close by.  So just like that, he's a teenager! ๐Ÿ™„✌๐ŸปI'm not ready.

Rare photo opportunity with him. He's slightly smiling (vs. smirking) here because I compromised about something in exchange. Hah.
I fondly look back and look forward on all our adventures and misadventures parenting Chaseyboy....never a dull moment. What I'm mighty joyful about Chaseyboy is that he's kind, respectful and not vindictive. Also, we likened him to Shikamaru's character (Shikamaru is a character in Naruto). Though we would naturally want him to be like Naruto, we feel that he's more like Shikamaru where though everything feels like a drag at the onset, because he's too cool and lazy to care, but still he gladly does everything. So he's still our Naruto, believe it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ As his mom, I always feel loved and needed. Please take note that "needed" is the operative word. Hah. I often do daily reminders for myself to be a cool mom, not to nag, and not to nag.  I might still do sound like a broken record player every night and every morning on what needs to be done. But oh well, I feel that I'm still within reason! Though now, oh my, we're at the point that I need to nag to get him to stay still for a nice photo. ๐Ÿ™Š(Here's the disclaimer part on why I have so many selfies instead on my IG @chicsassymom . Am I too old for social media?! I refused to feel so. Hahaha. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿป‍♀️) We've made it a point to be so involved in his school activities back home, but here in US of A, life happens, so we just nag monitor his grades, and so far, so good, or else he'll just be grounded! Oh well, I pray for wisdom and grace to be a wiser parent... still rearing, not too authoritarian, not overly indulging, permissive but within reasons and still never really letting go (hello, eagle eyes!). Oh my...this truly sounds a lot of work! ๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ˜…

Looking back, I was already commuting (riding jeepney and tricycle) in Grade 2. I spent time with friends after school and after club meetings. There were no cellphones back then. So it's just really asking permission and being sincere to my word that I'll be home at the agreed time. That was grade school and high school days in Pampanga (Philippines). When I went to college, I was on my own in Manila. I had childhood sweethearts when I was in Kindergarten, had suitors and crushes aplenty. It was possible because I was in a co-ed school all through out. The story was different with our son, he's in an all-school boys the whole of his elementary, he had a driver and a yaya (helper) who went with him until he was in Grade 6, where I braved letting go of our driver and he had to take the school bus. And note that, we're so involved in his school that all his teachers even the Principal were just a phone away. All for the love of security and safety. Hmmm...maybe, because he's an only son. So all eyes on him. ๐Ÿค” So then, just like that, Chaseyboy turns teenager...I'm not prepared "not to be needed" anymore. It takes courage and a lot of trust and prayers to allow him to walk from school by himself, or to go out with friends (now I presume with girls), and now to ask to go to a theme park or to a fair with us just dropping him off. Ottoke!? Thank goodness for an app, which I learned from another parent, Life360. It's basically a GPS tracker, works with us because I'm on IOS and he's on an Android. So one day, when he asked permission to play soccer at the nearby school, I just had to make sure he knows how to cross the streets properly. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคซ

This my friends, my cinggu, happened just days after he turned 13. He feels that being a teenager (and now that he's taller than me),  he's old enough not to need mom to do things for himself. Oh well, the new operative work is "compromise"... give and take, privilege vs. responsibility. Moreso, it's sincerely respecting and trusting each other over the discourse of the real life dramas. Thank goodness for my Chinese and Korean dramas, I'm sane surviving! Let's do this! Aja! Aja! Fighting! ✌๐Ÿป

EyenLip LULU Professional Hair Ampoule Review ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿป‍♀️| #ChicSassyMomFinds

Annyeong! ๐Ÿค—

Never, never, never give up on your hair. I guess my addiction to haircare products comes naturally because for the longest time, I've been working with hair care companies in my previous life. Then it leveled up because I ended up more adventurous and it's normally at its highest and fanciful when I attend fan meetings or get a drama-inspired hair style and color. ๐Ÿ˜‰But my dear, unlike back in Manila when I can do salon visits whenever I like, this it is not the case here in California. So I'm mighty grateful that Beauty Net Korea reached out to me for collaboration opportunity to sample Korean Products. You ought to know I'm a Korean Skincare addict (type Innisfree, SkinFood, Althea etc. in my search box). Yassss!!! A boxful of beauty products from Seoul with love...I'm a happy ahjumma fangirl!

Product Description:  Contains 17 types of Amino Acids and various amount of misturizer that prevents damages from hair dryness
1. Hair ampoule that contains ceramide ingredients that has hardening cement effect to the keratin, phospholipid and collagen components that’s between the cuticle layer and the cortex layer
2. The vegetable oil coats the cuticle layer to strengthens cuticle and cortex layer surface to provide and maintain the moisture.
3. Contains ceramide and collagen ingredients to create and maintain healthy and smooth hair.
4. Contains a lot of moisturizing agent and amino acid to prevent damages caused by moisture evaporation from the hair and maintain moist hair.
LULU Professional Hair Ampoule 13ml by EyenLip Beauty Net Korea
It's DIY hair spa and treatment at home (and lately, I live for do-it-yourself...DIY hair color, manicure, pedicure, laundry, driving ๐Ÿ™‰...I miss Philippines ✌๐Ÿป). Depending on my conditioner, my hair can be nice and soft, and sometimes just plain unruly. Life happens, between hair fall, and hair damage, I tend to just mostly tie it a messy bun. So I was excited to try this professional hair ampoule.

How to use: 1. After shampooing remove excess moisture left on the hair with your hands. 2. Apply and massage the ampoule throughout the hair. (Because of Self-Emulsion Effect the liquid ampoule is transformed into a treatment formula, which makes it easy to massage the hair.) 3. After 5 ~ 10 minutes massage, rinse with warm water.
Chic & Sassy Mom Tip: Be careful not to get the stuff in your eyes. The precaution is real. It has a warming effect so when it accidentally did, it super stings and I had to let cold water run.

I only needed half of it. The container is resealable so I saved it for another use. At the onset, it's not really soft, in fact, my hair remained tangled, even after washing. Then, surprise, surprise...the magic only happens when drying it.  It feels so light, soft, and shiny. Look!

Before. After (with the same lighting). Another after photo with different lighting condition.
Easy peasy. No frills hair styling. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿป‍♀️✨
It's love at first try. I couldn't wait to use it more frequently. I did for the second, third time. And it works like magic. Easy peasy. Good hair days make me feel like I can rule the world. That, plus nice skin, nice shoes with matching nice purse to boot. Oh well! #ImsoVain #KDramaInspired ๐ŸคซCheers! ✌๐Ÿป

When in Union Square San Francisco ❤️ | #ChicSassyMomTravels

Annyeong! ๐Ÿค—

So I've been MIA again, oh well, real life drama happens. In fact our unplanned trip to the city last Saturday was a result of string of not-so-good luck, but when life give you lemons, make lemon water (that's the healthier choice nowadays ๐Ÿ˜…).  So we took the BART, and instead went to Union Square.

Yasss! Another San Francisco Heart...Heartfelt Wisdom 2018 by Jeremy Fish
At the other end of the square, across Nike in Post St., there's a new Heart of San Francisco. See more Hearts of San Francisco here and here too.
Sidestory. We have aunts visiting from LA, and we made plans for a Sacrament Tour. Our car broke down on the way, so we had it towed by Triple A (Thank you, Triple A, glad for the membership, better safe, than sorry!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ) . We're in San Pablo, and thankfully that there's still a Bart Station near us. We're out of luck renting a car as they closed at 12nn. Just in case I don't do a full post about it, allow me to rant on the hateful customer service of Hertz near that area. She kept on insisting "I close in 1 minute!!!" non-stop instead of answering my question if they can wait and help us. ๐Ÿ™„So we had half day, and we decided to take the BART to the city. More misadventures awaited, apparently on weekend, there's a portion that you had to take the bus, so a supposed easy peasy BART ride became toxic. Oh well. We made it, Union Square is BARTable anyhow.

From Powell Station, Union Square is just a couple of blocks away.  Union Square is a shopping haven and a must-see when touring SF.

Must-see and Photo Op at the Cable Car

#TitasofLA in San Francisco
Union Square is a plaza that is bordered by Powell, Geary, Post and Stockton. One side of Union Square is Macy's. There's Cheescake Factory at the rooftop of it for a nice overlooking view of the square. One side is the photo op at the signature Heart of San Francisco, America’s Greatest City by the Bay by Tony Bennett with the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. On one side, is the giant Nike Store where the new heart is located. It changed every so often.

Apple Store at Union Square, San Francisco...Apple fans abound for the new Apple iPhone Xs
At the other side, corner of the square is the Neiman Marcus. Playing tourist, one needs to go inside it to see the magnificent stained-glass ceiling of The Rotunda. For me, I just like to window shop for my next Jo Malone scent.

It's splendid, indeed!
If you have a lot of time to spend in Union Square, I read that The Rotunda is an exquisite restaurant as well.
Of all the mishaps, it still turned out to be a pleasant day. My boys were forced to tour the city again after a while. I love playing tourist in SF, it's such a charming place and it never fails to captivate. It was short, but sweet trip. We're out of time as we had to take the Bart going home.  On our way out, I did get more Bake Cheese Tarts. Oh well, grateful for another one fine San Francisco day spent with family and loved ones. Cheers! ✨

#FangirlModeOn | Deng Lun for Heavy Sweetness, Ash-Like Frost ๐Ÿ˜

Ni hao! ๐Ÿค—Omo, my heart is full with watching Heavy Sweetness, Ash-Like Frost aka Ashes of Love. ❤️So anyhow, this is not entirely a post about the drama, it's just my mundane, crazy ravings for Deng Lun, who I first watched in Sweet Dreams with Dilraba Dilmurat, who I saw first in my forever favorite Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (this drama is a winner, must watch). You ought to know I'm as crazy about Chinese dramas. In fact, there's a certain higher level of devotion to it because the dramas tend to go over 40 episodes. One needs to be truly, madly, hopelessly in love with them to go through all the dramas, then to do a re-run all over again. I mean, I don't have a life who needs real life, when you have them, right?! Hah. ๐Ÿ˜…

Anyhow, this is a post dedicated to Deng Lun. He is the first dongsaeng or literally millenial (that can already be my nephew) that I've decided big time that my wish is for another lifetime to be reincarnated as Chinese or to time travel to China. ๐Ÿ˜‚Yup, you read it right, not Korean or Seoul. ๐ŸคซBut wait, it seems I'm pretty much consistent with my oppa, he reminds me so much of Lee Joon Gi, who of all the boys I've loved before, will always be my one true oppa.

Oh how I love thee, Deng Lun. Let me count the he's handsome, but more so I love him more because he's so versatile.  I love him both in period drama and modern drama (Because of Meeting You and Sweet Dreams). He can sing and dance. He has so much range. He's just amazing!!!

I suggest you start with Because of Meeting You (Chinese version of Korean drama Jang Bori is here). My heart is full. ❤️ That's all. Okay, thanks, bye! ✌๐Ÿป

#KDramaInspired | Noreabang in San Francisco ๐ŸŽค

Omo! If only I can sing, I'll be a happy fangirl to discover a noreabang in San Francisco. Not entirely close to Fremont, but drivable. First off, it's your authentic Korean sing room a la karaoke or videoke, which is owned and operated by true Korean ahjumma and ahjussi, with lights, tambourine and Korean menu to boot. Daebak! ๐Ÿ˜…

Annyeong, ahjumma! The place is so reminiscent of Korean Dramas. Noraebang. Sing rooms. You can bring food, which is nice. But you cannot bring drinks. Sounds good.
No Soju. Maekju is it. Oh, spot the tambourine.
So I'm back to the rat race corporate world again. Werk, werk, werk. I'm feeling a little old, oh well, I'm literally older working with mostly millennials. And my, they do love to sing. So this is like our welcoming party for the new hires, like how they do it in KDramas ๐Ÿ˜‰, except my goodness, they can sing. One colleague has a music record, one is an opera singer, and others, well, they're professionals. They can navigate the complicated Korean machine and they know their songs by heart. ๐Ÿ˜… I thought I could sing yearssss ago, I'm wrong. I like to do it for fun, but that night was not it. I need to practice. Hah. Aja! Aja! Fighting! ✌๐Ÿป

We've moved! ๐Ÿก| #ChicSassyMomxUSA Part 1

Annyeong, cinggu! ๐Ÿค—Oh my, so for the nth time, we've moved again. New home. New adventures. New memories. No wifi for a while. But, I'm back! Oh, life! My, I swear this one was toxic epic, because we had no movers to help us, it's just the three of us. For days, I thought, I broke my back.  ๐Ÿ™ŠBut, we've settled. Yay!

It's a newly renovated apartment unit. I love the floors. It's easier to clean, well, I initially thought so.

We found a spot for my tea sets. Yay! That's it for now. Oh well, you ought to know that Niles is just few miles away, and I can never get enough tea cups
Pineapples, Alexa, Sunbursts, and Scentsy #FewofmyFavoriteThings ✨

Hummel and stuff. I'll save it for another post, but we had so much unique finds from the Fremont Niles Antique Fair 2018 (see my IG post @chicsassymom). We're pleasantly surprised that this apartment have so much light fixtures. Unlike the last one, where we only have one for the living and dining room, and we had to furnish the room with lamps. Oh well, now, it's sooo bright and sunny. Hello, California living! Cheers! ✨

To be continued...

(Tacos El Chavo) Favorite Mexican Food Truck for First Timer |#ChicSassyMomEats ๐ŸŒฎ

Hola! I'm so easy to feed, you ought to know that. Though, it just gets tricky when I'm with my boys (son and hubby), and it gets extra challenging with hubby being a very picky eater. ๐ŸคซSo I'm super delighted that he's finally warming up to authentic Mexican (not fusion, all-cheesy kind) tacos and quesadilla.Olรฉ! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

With my Crazy Rich Hungry Asian Son. ✌๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜‰Tacos El Chavo Mexican Food Truck #FavoritePlacesandSpaces #WheninFremont
Imagine our delight that he actually offered to buy food, tacos, burritos and quesadilla. Celebrate!

We love combination of Asada and Chorizo for my son's burrito, my tacos and hubby's quesadilla.

Yum ๐Ÿ˜‹
I was so hungry and I ate right away. I owe you a better food pix. But promise, the Tacos El Chavo is your gateway for enjoying Mexican Food. It's how to get someone to just at least try...then voila, they'll be fanboys and fangirls too. The quesadilla is one of the best we've ever had. For the tacos, it's one of the best I've had so far for the authentic Mexican tacos.

It's awesome that we have access to food trucks here, though there are hits and misses, but the Tacos El Chavo is a winner! It's cooked to perfection, so it takes a to order it right away while getting our car wash at the adjacent Autopia Car Wash place. Vamos a comer! Let's eat! Cheers!✌๐Ÿป

License to Drive in California ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป | ChicSassyMomxUSA

Annyeong, cinggu! ๐Ÿค—Hmmmm... as always, I've been super busy lately, from one needless stressing on to the yes, I failed the first time, but yassss, I finally made it!!!

I've been driving like forever in the Philippines. I don't remember being ever so stressed out in getting the license for an exam. Though the long wait makes everything toxic. Imagine here, to get a driving permit, there's the written test, which you really, truly need to prepare for. And then there is the ever so coveted passing the behind the wheel test. I failed the first try. I was so confident that I'm ready for Fremont, though many of my friends shared the same ill-fate of not making it. I was wrong. I committed a critical's still so vivid, because for a second I deliberated. I chose the wrong lane. Failed.๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿป‍♀️

So for my second try, I went to Vacaville. The roads there are more familiar, so relatively railroad tracks, no school zones. I came in early because I had to familiarize myself with the roads, turns, speed limit, etc. It helped that the examiner exuded a mentoring feel vs. tormenting me outright. I was already super stressed out. I made 3 mistakes. I was called for those mistakes, what helped me was despite doing those, I had still the presence of mind to change lanes safely and correctly. So he said right, I thought I heard left. ๐Ÿ™ŠFor a moment, I feared failing again. Thank goodness, for just three mistakes! God is great! I prayed, and prayed and prayed for this.

Chic & Sassy Mom Tip 1: Prayer moves mountain. It is important that you're calm during the test. Presence of mind, Ms. Lourdes! (I thought I heard him say). I needed to calm down and to focus.

Chic & Sassy Mom Tip 2: Watch You Tube videos. DMV has videos about the critical errors and driving guidelines.

Chic & Sassy Mom Tip 3: They really mean it, scanning is key. Check your rear-view mirror, side mirror, and physically (with strict emphasis on this action) turn your head and shoulder to check for your blind spot. Either left or right. Repeat.

I swear, it was so toxic going through it all, and I finally made it. It feels like Christmas. It's the same feeling of elation when I first got my Korean Visa, and attended a fan meeting. Hello, California living! To driving to infinity and beyond... Cheers! ๐Ÿค—

Favorite Beauty and Shopping Finds for July 2018| #ChicSassyMomFinds

Annyeong, cinggu! ๐Ÿค— Hope you're having a great weekend! Here's a belated post for my favorite shopping finds for July (on top of my still-favorite shopping soiree from last time).

1.  More Jo Malone. One can never have enough. ๐ŸคซThere was an amazing 4th of July promotion, I bought these just because I like how they look. I'm liking the Tropical Cherimoya better. The Red Roses is a miss for me. It's too rosy. But it works better when I layer it with other scents. So I'm still keeping it.

Jo Malone, oh how I love thee! ❤️
2.  More Shiseido. I'm a skincare addict, the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is a mainstay product that I incorporate on my elaborate skincare routine (oh, let me update my skincare routine, will save another post). Recently, Ultimune has a new formula that includes a reishi mushroom and iris root extracts for better, improved performance.

3. Pim Saen Balm Oil for world peace. ✌๐Ÿป I love essential oils and almost everything minty. Spa-ish, uplifting, and comforting. I tried this from my sister. She got it in Thailand. And yassss, it's available at Amazon Prime. It takes a while for it to arrive, maybe a month or so. So now, I'm timing my repurchase.

I've been busy stressing needlessly so I just plainly devoted myself to consoling myself by watching Korean and Chinese dramas (follow me @noonades on Instagram for my current favorite dramas and oppas ✌๐Ÿป), so I don't think I have much to rave about for August next. But will see. ๐ŸคซStay beautiful, fabulous, and in love, my dear cinggus! Cheers! ✨

A Day at Harry Potter World at Universal Studios Hollywood | #ChicSassyMomTravels *PixHeavy

We spent a Friday in Universal Studios just to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Last time we visited was a long time ago, so no Hogwarts yet, and son was still a little boy so he was not able to ride big boys' rides. I've always wanted to go back because I'm a big Harry Potter fan. We missed visiting Universal Studios the last time we were in Japan. Timely, that we have a day to spare in Los Angeles to come by and visit the park again. It was short but oh so scorching hot sweet.

We planned for an early start. We made sure that the first thing to do is to see The Harry Potter World.

๐Ÿ’‰Stressing over my PPD Test | #ChicSassyMomxUSA

I'm such a worrywart. ๐Ÿ™ŠSo sorry, my goodness, I've been losing sleep over the PPD Test for a pre-employment requirement here in California. It's the same story last time when I moved to another company back in Manila though that time it was because of my blood pressure, which went unusually berserk. Weird, it seems I'm scared of electronic blood pressure monitor. ๐Ÿ˜… It was all in vain anyhow. Here in California, the pre-employment medical exam coverage required by the company I'll be joining (yassss, I made it!) is not as extensive as we had back in Manila, and that's great news because this time I've been told it will be for my personal account. I'm asked for a medical clearance/fit-to-work advise and PPD Test or Chest X-ray. In Manila, I don't ever remember getting a PPD Test, though I've been told, I had one done a loooong time ago just because I don't have the usual BCG vaccine scar. What we normally get in the Philippines, both for the pre-employment medical and the annual physical exam is the Chest X-ray. When I mentioned it to the doctor here, she made sure to ask was it because I tested positive, but it's most definitely not! I guess it's easier back home to just go right away to the X-Ray...hello, radiation! Plus, the BCG vaccine, which is given to everyone in the Philippines at birth, risks giving false positive results albeit given after x no. of years already, though it is still depends on several other factors. Knowing that, I'm all the more worrying needlessly. I swear, I'm sooo bad, I kept on checking it every so often, literally losing sleep over it until the D-Day.

Well, let's call it a PPD Test time lapse. ๐Ÿ™ˆ There was basically nothing before the 24-hr mark. It's just that tiny red dot. Then last night, maybe on it's 36-hr mark, I noticed a small circle growing, which from research is erythema. I was so scared. ๐Ÿ™‰
Can't 2:15 pm come any sooner?!
