Seoul 2016: Ji Chang Wook 3D #FanMeeting #Fangirl

Annyeong, chinggu-ya!

Highlight of my October 2016 Seoul trip was the Ji Chang Wook 3D best everrr fan meet. Absolutely, one for the record books.

Ji Chang Wook as Kim Je Ha a.k.a. K2
Ji Chang Wook  #Starstruck
Healer-ya is so back with The K2 this year, finally.

To those who are asking, our Seoul trip was plan ahead of time. Surprised and perfectly timed, that weekend, Ji Chang Wook had his fan meeting. Fated.
Mabuhay! Mahal ka namin, Ji Chang Wook! 2 Fangirls (+1 Fanboy we met on the way out) from the Philippines
While queueing,  this adorable puppy walk around. Fascinating, only to know after, it was Him. Hahaha
In fairness, it's so organize. Now, I have high expectations of fan meeting. Hah.

K-Fangirls, Unite!
(Unlimited) Chicken and Drinks plus Beer
Showtime.Love, love, love.

He was in the stage singing, and doing games. Then, the next thing you know, he's walking around the venue, taking selfies. So much for his security protocol. I love him much.

Watching an episode of The K2. He's such an endearing person. No words.
His Encore performance.  He was out of the venue, but we stayed on and kept shouting for encore, and he went back. Daebak!
While this is my first Seoul fan meeting and one of the cheapest (I wonder if did the organizer even make a profit, considering unlimited chicken and drinks were provided for), I say that this is really for the record books. Ji Chang Wook was all over the place sincerely providing the highest level of fan service. I bet, it's a security nightmare for his team. I did say in my social media account that I had several up close encounters with him. We connected. 😉 Promise. I was just so starstruck that I forget to be sensible. Would you even know? I guess I should have asked for a selfie. 😂

Ji Chang Wook oppa, until next time. Cheers! 😍

Anello Backpack 🎒 from Japan in Black and Camouflage

Konbanwa! 🙂

When we went to Japan last time, I wasn't yet privy to Anello bags until my friend bought one also from her Japan trip. It's not only pretty, but very functional and affordable. Nice. Love it.

Com po evinho, anda-se caminho. Apparently, it is a Portuguese proverb, Com pĂŁo e vinho, anda-se caminho, translated, it says "With bread and wine, to walk away!" Makes sense.

Winter Clothes Shopping in Manila #OOTD ❄️☃️

Winter is coming...Can't wait for our Chicago and LA trip come December.  đŸ˜‰

Looking back at our first ever trip to California for the holidays, that was 2012, we spent so much preparing for it. Plus, there were not a lot of stores back then that feature winter fashion in Manila. So it was Uniqlo and Debenhams for us. But now, we have Muji, M&S, H&M, F&F and what have you. Hello, Winter Fashion in Manila!

I dream of a hooded (faux) fur coat. Found one in F&F Glorietta, from Php 4250, now on sale at Php 2950.
This is what I got for Chase yesterday. Camouflage + Fur = Winner!  On sale for Php 1750 plus additional 20% off.
F&F Shopping Finds for Chase (and just one for me 😉).
Throwback. For last year's Japan trip, it was mostly Nautica for Chase. But we were in Japan. It's Uniqlo aplenty.

Nautica Finds in SM Department Store
Overtime, we've learned to master the art of layering. For me, Uniqlo offers the best selection of thermal under wears, and leggings. If you will be in Japan, buy now. 😁 It will save you a lot of baggage space and save you from looking overly plump.

Chic and Sassy Shopping Tips: If you are going to Seoul on a winter, do not bring or buy a lot of winter clothes in Manila. There are nicer and cheaper choices in Seoul below Php 3000. See my OOTD Post in Seoul last February 2015, and the recent below.
Taken on the same day last October 14. It's not too chilly in Seoul, I was just initially wearing a Superdry Windbreaker, but a quick stop at Lotte Department Store adjacent to the ITX station, I found this nice Trench coat, which was on sale for 50000 KRW. Such a steal, so I changed outfit. Haha, I was overdressed. 😂
#OOTD #WheninJapan Marks & Spencer Coat | Levi's | Fitflop Boots | Prada
Note to self, again, if going to Seoul, don't bring a lot of clothes, regardless of season. Seoul fashion is so pretty and relatively affordable. Going to Japan? It will be Uniqlo and Muji, but clothes mostly will be in basic colors. So if you like colors, match it up with colorful scarves. For winter clothes shopping in Manila, my threshold for a good coat should be below Php 3000, unless I find a winter jacket here less than that amount, then I'm tempted to get it here like my F&F finds earlier. F&F is the clothing line of UK based-retailer, Tesco. In Philippines, it's operated by Stores Specialist Inc. (SSI). Or buy off-season, during pre or post sale. Above was Marks & Spencer Coat I both on sale for only Php 1500. I have Muji coats for about the same price. Now, it seems that we have closet full of winter clothes.

If you are following me on Instagram (@chicsassymom), yesterday's soiree was a trip to F&F in Glorietta for Chaseyboy's winter clothes. From our years of spending Christmas mostly in California, and last year in Japan, we're not probably experts on how to bundle up for Chicago's Winter. Oh well, will exciting. Cheers! ;-D

Seoul 2016: Authentic Korean Chinese Jjajangmyun and Tangsuyuk

A Seoul-ful feast was the perfect cap-off from my trip to K-Drama lair, which is Digital Media City.  I was delighted to be treated with Korean Chinese Cuisine, Jjajangmyun with Tangsuyuk (Korean Sweet & Sour Chicken) and mandoo to boot. Thank you for the food.

We ordered from this Korean-Chinese Restaurant.
I wasn't able to take photo of the delivery guy, but food were delivered like how they are in Korean Dramas, in a stainless delivery box and in real plates. Teehee. There was also disposable tablecloth with it. I was told that they will just go back for the plates after sometime.
Jjajangmyeon!!! Very timely, just saw Train to Busan and I was compelled to re-marathoned Coffee Prince, where Yoon Eun Hye's character, Eun Chan, delivers and devours plates and plates of Jjajangmyun.
I've been told that an authentic Jajangmyeon should be from a Chinese Restaurant, as it is a Korean Chinese cuisine noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of black soybean paste, diced pork and vegetables. It's originally from China but was recreated to suit the Korean taste as early as Joseon Dynasty. Nice-h! And so this is what an authentic black bean noodles is like! Love it. Though, I don't have Yoon Eun Hye's metabolism, I couldn't really dare to finish a bowl, much as I want to relive the drama experience. Hah. The Korean chicken tangsuyuk and dumplings are equally delicious. I'm sure these are something my boys would love. Let me try to cook these for them. Cheers! ;-D

Seoul 2016: Digital Media City #KoreanDramaHaven

Annyeong! :-D

Oh my, went MIA (again) as life is mostly spent on work, Korean Dramas, and the recently concluded gastronomic staycation in Angeles City over the long weekend. Ohhhmygad!

I was on my own on my first day as my chinggu, Teng of The Brow Studio, had to go on a Mexican Cruise instead. I took an Air Asia flight,  and I was all giddy, thanks to the On the way to the Airport K-drama, which stars Lee Sang Yoon and Kim Ha Neul. Gratefully, Mommy Wendy of WendyFlor invited me to her home, otherwise, I might had ended up already finishing my life savings in Myeong-dong with all the skincare on Sale, and you ought to know, I'm a skincare addict. Hah.

We met in Myeong-dong Station, for a subway trip to Digital Media City.
Subway Route: Myeong-dong to Samgakji to Digital Media City
Here's a quick round-up of my trip to Digital Media City in Seoul.

For a Korean Drama Addict like yours truly, I'm home! I came in a week late, behind me is the stage for the APAN Awards where Song Joong Ki was the star of the night. The DMC Festival also ended the night before. Wrong timing.
Digital Media City is home to MBC, SBS, YTN, CJ E&M, Korean Film Archive, Star Park and a lot more. Mommy Wendy, lucky her, leaves walking distance from here.

There is an MBC Brand Store. Featured is the recently concluded Korean Drama of Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo, W-Two Worlds. I love Kang Chul, so happy to be here.

Digital Media City is one of the shooting locations of Avengers:Age of Ultron in Seoul.
#OnceaFangirlAlwaysaFangirl Photo op with Lee Joon Gi (4th Prince in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) I really do hope, I see him in person soon.
With Mommy Wendy. Thank you. Love you.
Mommy Wendy lives in Digital Media City. Daebak! Lucky her. Envy much. I will be sure to invite myself the next time I visit. Cheers! ;-D

Seoul 2016: Autumn in my Heart

Annyeong! ^_^

Oh my, it has been a very busy time for me. Seriously. Terribly. Pleasantly. I went to Seoul. It was daebak as I fell in love with Ji Chang Wook all over again (will save a Ji Chang Wook 3D fan meet for later).

It was a choice between a trip to Busan or Nami Island. Nami Island is an instagrammable spot when in Seoul with its charming fall foliage, a check off my bucket list.

Taken Mid October 2016 in Nami Island. Autumn foliage is not yet in full bloom. This is just a part in Nami Island that is breathtakingly orange-y. But most of Seoul and Nami is still green. So yes, definitely worth the trip.
Autumn in my heart.
Winter Sonata. Back hugging Bae Yong-Joon. Hahaha. #OnceaFangirlalwaysafangirl ^_^
It was for a 5 Days, 4 Nights Seoul-searching trip. I'm a happy fangirl. Thank you, hon and Chaseyboy. You will be blessed. Much love. First night was spent in Digital Media City, and to a Korean drama addict, I'm home!!! Next day was spent in Myeongdong. It meant more Skinfood, Innisfree, and Avene. Avene is the newest skincare brand that I'm liking. There was also Lotte Mart, wherein I brought home a boxful of Korean goodies. Then we went to Nami Island and Petite France. Paju Outlet Stores for Prada and Furla shopping. Then we're off to Ji Chang Wook's Fan Meeting, I'm over the moon! Then it was home sweet home, albeit stressing over excess baggage and the delayed flight over typhoon Karen.

Here I am hoping for a longer blog post about Nami Island, will save it for later, and so with Petite France's. I'm happy to finally condition myself to write as more often than not, I have so many excuses. Meantime, please do follow me in IG @ChicSassyMom. Please don't go away. I do hope I can attend events, but my Saturdays are all reserved for PTA work. And my day job is as challenging as ever. If you can just please send me press kits at home, I'll make sure to care.

Side story. I'm recovering from flu, it's so bad, I had to wear mask. (The Korean Drama fangirl in me be like...mask? why not!*Teehee) September went by so fast with a short but sweet trip to Hongkong and Macau for my son's birthday celebration. I do hope I will find time to do a blog post as we availed a tour contrary to how we usually DIY. Anyhow, I'm hoping to make myself extra productive. Meaning, little time spent for moping (hah) by doing one LSPA-LSGH-PTA task, one blog post, one Korean drama with a glass of a Pinot Noir. Cheers! ;-D

I was originally wearing a Superdry Jacket, but I got myself a coat from Lotte Department Store near the train station *thinks On the Way to the Airport K-Drama | Cotton On Ripped Jeans | Fitflop Boots | Givenchy Micro Nightingale in Pink

Unboxing: MacBook Pro with Retina

Oh hello, September! I'm so happy to be back, and welcome this Christmas Season (cheers!) with a timely post of unboxing my new precious Apple dearie to replace my ever so reliable MacBook Pro. It's still working fine, it's just that the 10K pictures x 2 in iPhoto and Photos, are taking so much space. That, the demands of K-Dramas (teehee), and others, with the blue and rainbow spinning pinwheel to boot, the current model sounds like a good time to upgrade and let go.

You had me at hello, well almost. I was initially considering of getting the MacBook in Rose Gold. It's thinner, so lighter, but without all the ports. Yikes! This one has 2 x Thunderbolt 2 ports, 2 x USB 3 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, except for a CD/DVD Drive. (Please don't send me PR Kits with CD.) This one is still on the lighter side, for about 1.6 kg. I can bring it with me on my trips, hello, Korean Dramas all flight long.

I'm sold! I'm pretty sure this will be worth it. Truly, madly, deeply, once you go Mac, you never go back! Cheers! :-D

For features and other technical details, please read more about it in the MacBook Pro with Retina in the official Apple Page

P.S. Please don't go away. I hope to be back, and I have one less excuse not to blog. Let's do this! Aja! Aja! Fighting!

Japan Travel Part 5: Suginoi Kanazawa | Michelin 2-Star Restaurant #Kaiseki

Another memorable experience in Kanazawa is lunch feast in Suginoi. Kanazawa Suginoi is a kaiseki or a traditional Japanese cuisine, restaurant. And to our treat, it was awarded a Michelin 2-star in 2016. 2 of 3 being the highest means that Suginoi is deserving of a visit for that excellent cuisine, skillfully and carefully crafted dishes of finest quality. Just lovely!

Suginoi, Kanazawa. Suginoi is a kaiseki restaurant, a traditional, luxurious Japanese dining art form that balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food.
Inside Suginoi, Kanazawa.
We were ushered to our dining room. The setting is very warm and cozy. Japanese are the sweetest, I swear. They are very engaging.

Kids have their own set meal with Omurice, Tempura, Fish, Fruits.
JB was treated a steak for his main dish.

I was treated with the traditional kaiseki, slow fine dining. As such, the highlights were not only the tastefulness, but also the physical presentation and style of serving it. Here goes, I don't know each name though, and I do hope I got the order right, but basically it features the starters, main courses, shokuji (rice and miso soup), and cap off with a dessert. I will try to match those that I can with that of the text book order and definition.

Tome-wan (止椀?): a miso-based or vegetable soup served with rice.
Mizumono (水物?): a seasonal dessert.
Everything was in divine order. I'm forever charmed!
