NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo ;-D

Ravings (mostly) have been going on here and there about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, so I was uber curious to try it out. The Soft Matte Lip Cream is a trendy pout paint, which works on a premise that it’s the go between a lip stick and a lip gloss. It’s neither one nor the other. ย NYX Cosmetics are about exuding a Goddess of the Night look and appeal. Oh my, what am I to do? For the past weeks (months perhaps), I’ve been staying at home, devoid of any night life. ;-D ย But have no fear, I’m able to pull off a daytime Goddess look. LoL.;-D For the past three days, I’ve tried several ways on how to wear it. I wore it casually during my errands to the supermarket and to the bank. And I even wore it while documenting a post about a face mask product. With the several shades available, this could be a basic makeup staple.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo Shade ;-D

Comes with a doe foot applicator brush. And I love the scent! ;-D It reminds me of vanilla and caramel.ย
Swatch. Just the right reddish shade to pull off Snow White’s lippies. ;-D

I have more lip gloss and balms than lipsticks. I usually prefer going to the au naturel look, so I can afford being lazy to do touch ups. Although I’ve read mostly ravings about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, I’m also wary on the naysayers’ take on the drying and the chapping effects. True enough, when I first tried it out, after several hours, I noticed a bit of flaking. And this was considering my lips were fresh out of lip scrubbing several days ago. So on my second try, I defeated the purpose of the matte effect, I applied gloss on it. It’s still as pretty, but the lasting effect was compromised (and the whole point of the silky smooth matte finish!). ย The finish immediately feels like that of a regular lipstick with major smudges and kiss marks on every thing that comes in contact with your lips.

Please bare with my cam whoring! I’m having a great time. I love the turn out of my lashes with Majolica Majorca’s mascara. So truth be told, I’ll be using this ย look to review several items. ๐Ÿ˜€
Thanks to my The Skin Shop Magic Bright BB Cream, I manage to exude a skin as white as the snow. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream for ย lips as red as blood, and Tony Moly Silky Glaze for hair as black as the ebony. ;-D

My workaround to get the most of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creamย is to go for the classic recommended regimen of applying lip moisturizer at the earliest phase of makeup application. Usually before doing the eye makeup, just to give time for the lip balm or gloss to settle, and so as not to compromise the pigmentation of the lipstick.ย Last night, while playing mommy nurse with my uber sick son, I was wearing it for more that six hours. And voila, no dry or chapped lips. ;-D

I’m wearing it with NYX Lip Liner in Hot Red ;-D

So what’s to โค?

  • After working my way around the drying, I find this lip cream awesome!ย
  • Hats off to the lasting effect. It’s pretty much for an all nighter event.ย
  • If you’re a lucky one who doesn’t have issues with drying and chapping, by wearing it stand alone, you’ll get smudge and kiss marks-free pass all the time, and saves you for doing touch ups.ย
  • I love the scent, as in… could not for everyone, but my sweet tooth is captivated.
  • Value for money. I got it for Php 330 at Digital Traincase, but US SRP is at $6+.ย
  • It’s very pigmented while providing smooth & silky coverage.ย
  • Very true, it’s lightweight. Since, I’m a lip gloss junkie, I got used to the feel. So even it under the cream, it’s still feel au naturale.ย

If you need to remove it earlier than usual, the shade won’t be totally washed off with water. So you have to wipe it off with a cotton pad with eye/lip makeup remover.

Overall, I want more. ;-D I have another shade, so please watch out for it.ย

Still as pigmented and pretty, even with a different lighting condition. ;-D
