❤ New Year, New Look! ❤

Woot woot! Happy Holidays!!! Finally, after several months I was able to do a last minute blog makeover! :-)

The best part, besides being free :-), it was so hassle-free! Thanks to the ever reliable Photobucket, and to my new BFF, Picnik! I tried using it before, but since I haven't yet tried the premium edition (for a fee), it took a while to upload pictures. Now, it can actually access my pictures from my Facebook account. I feel like working with my iPhoto!

And so to you, and you, and you..

Cheers!!! ❤❤❤

Our Fresh Fruit Basket for the New Year

Happy Holidays Everyone! :-) Sadly, I've been missing up on my writing, but I promise to write as much as I can after the Holiday Rush! There's really so much to tell...I can't wait to find time to do just that! :-)

Last night, I tried researching on New Year's Traditions, in a way to rationalize the many (and sometimes confusing) New Year's Traditions that we have in the Philippines. Well, after some reading and discussions with the elders/experts, I came up with the feasible and kinda practical traditions that my family can observe as well, with of course, my Number 1 must have,  Fresh Fruit Basket! :-)

13 Round Fruits on New Year's Eve
New Year's Fruit Basket
Why fruits? Well, they actually fruits have special symbol and meaning from myths from around the world such as abundance, which is associated with the Goddesses of fruitfulness, plenty, and the harvest. Fresh fruits on New Year means life and new beginning.

Apparently 13 fruits is better than the traditional 12! :-) This is because for our Chinese brothers and sisters, 13 is actually a luckier number. Why? From my research, the digit 1 when positioned in tens actually would sound like the word "definite" (shi) in Mandarin. While the digit 3 sounds like life, living or birth. Hence, the number 13, pronounces as "shisan", can mean "definitely vibrant" or "assured growth"! :-)

Travel Chic & Smart via Airphil Express

We've just concluded our last hurrah for our travel-filled year! ^_^ Timely that Iloilo, which was our first vacation destination for the year :-) would also be our last stop. Please read through my Boracay Trip post.  There's just too many beautiful pictures to choose from and so many great things to tell! ^_^... Also, my Microtel Boracay Hotel experience is already up and running. :-)
Airphil Express Airport Counters at NAIA Terminal 3
Anyway, for this trip, for the love of adventure (haha :-) and trying to be a smart (budget :-) traveler, I decided to try out Airphil Express. It's actually a revamped Air Philippines, and an affiliate of Lucio Tan Group of Companies with Philippine Airlines positions as the premium airline, and Airphil Express to play in the Budget Airline Segment . Truly, Airphil Express is actually offering a very budget friendly travel fare, and from the look of the share of passengers in the airport pre-departure area, it is already giving Cebu Pacific (a strong/leading player in the low-cost airfare segment) a good run for its money. And I can say that it is truly a worthy player! :-)

Microtel Inn & Suites Boracay Review

Welcome to the picturesque Boracay from Diniwid Beach with ❤!
View of Diniwid Beach taken while I'm taking a dip! :-)
After taking the more or less 5 hour bus trip from Iloilo to Caticlan, and then arriving at the Caticlan Jetty Port, and only to still take the signature boat ride to Boracay Jetty Port, the sweet smell of the beach, the sun and the pristine sand that Boracay Island boasts off is just another land trip away...oh well, almost there!

I love staying in Boracay's Station 2. For more of Boracay, please read on my Sun Kissed Boracay  Travel Post. Our earlier visit this year we stayed at The Sandcastles Apartments.  The Station 2 is center for sun bathing, swimming, shopping and dining area. We just then take a leisure walk to Station 1 for Jonah's fruit shake, the classic groto (shrine) and then have a more intimate swim besides the shrine, which I like better because of it's pristine water and white sand. But for this time around, we tried staying at Microtel. It's past Station 1 called Diniwid Beach. It's between Nami Resort and The Beach House.

Product Review: The Faceshop

I couldn't keep myself from expanding my Korean Culture fascination so I visited The FACESHOP (TFS) to get some travel beauty essentials.

Of course, I was almost tempted to splurge on the variety of product ranges they offer, and they even have some products on sale. The best part was that they boasts of natural ingredients. But given the limited time I was given to look around in the store (with my husband waiting for me outside), I focused and got only what I needed to have...and besides the Kim Hyun Joong giveaway is only to start this week, which is buy Php 2500 ($50+) and get a mug with his pretty face on it! :-)

I ❤ Cartoons in Facebook

I don't know if it's a country (Philippines) event or if it's a worldwide phenomenon, but my FB wall just got even better and colorful! :-) The profile pictures of most of my friends are now changing to the ever-loving and truly adorable cartoons back from our younger years. (Giveaway is their choices of character tells everyone what generation they are! :-) It just gives everyone a sweet reminiscence of the good old times when we are so limited to what was shown on our local TV listings and not even the Cable and now the world wide web.

But it's not just a simple celebration of cartoon characters...there is more to it, it is for a greater cause!!!

Facebook Status Update:

"Please change your facebook profile picture to your favorite childhood cartoon characters and invite your friends to do the same. Until monday, Dec 6, there should be no human faces on Facebook, but an invasion of memories. Let us support the worldwide protest against child violence :)"

Tone me up FitFlop™ and the world is mine for the taking!

Gotta ❤ FitFlop™ because they're truly amazing! They say that good shoes take you to good places!  And I say FitFlop™ makes great things happen...truly the world could be mine for the taking, at least whatever I make of it!
FitFlop™ walk the world like a star!
Given my sedentary lifestyle, malling and traveling are the only way to keep me moving without complaining and I do so wholeheartedly. My two pairs of FitFlop™compliment my lifestyle perfectly! For me, seeing great places, already made extra sweeter having to share these scrapbook worthy moments with my loved ones, is even made extra-special with the added workout benefits I get while I walk to my heart's delight.

I have two pairs of Walkstar FitFlop™ in Bronze/Pink and in Black/Pink. I got them early 2009 and I'm loving them still. They are every money's worth and sure winner among my chic & sassy buys. Their functionality doesn't compromise their look or appearance. Through times and one continent after another of walking with them, they are still as stylish and functional as ever. Truly a chic & sassy girl's bff's.

The World is just a walk away...

Photo Blog: Face Shop ❤ Kim Hyun Joong

Hello! Here's to praying that everyone had a meaningful Thanksgiving Celebration and of course, that everyone got some retail therapy with all the Sale going here, there and everywhere (cause I surely did!) :-)

So sorry that I've been M.I.A. (Missing In Action) again for the past days. It's been another great week of truly, fun-filled activities for my family. Just to start off, I'm venturing into photo blogging. Also just to keep my post coming regularly. :-)  We got a good SLR camera over the weekend. Being the shutterbug that I am, getting hold of a better camera is simply amazing and addictive. Though I'm still on the learning mode, I hope that I can be as creative in photography as I do in writing.

For my first entry, here's to fueling my Korean Culture addiction (amidst the sad events surrounding both Koreas). Nothing techie or photoshop moment on the picture, but it's the subject that I have a special tender and ❤ though. :-) So they say, a good picture always start with a good subject, and the technical and artistic aspects follow! :-)

♥Lightning McQueen is my son's BFF...and mine too! ♥

I'll let you in a little tidbit about my site's stats, my top post is about my son's 2nd birthday with Disney Cars Theme. Like me, moms probably can't get enough of the all so lovable characters. Lightning McQueen and of course his BFF Mater are simply endearing. The story as with most Disney/Pixar's Movies touch on a lot of important values...friendship, sportsmanship, responsibility and a whole lot more.

Here goes another post dedicated to Lightning McQueen. Pictures would show that we are truly so much in ♥ with him ☺...On your mark, get set, go!!!

Everything Disney Cars and a whole lot more...☺

♥My Top Picks: Bath & Body Works♥

If they were to ask me what I love shopping the most in the States (besides my son's goodies), I would definitely say Coach Purses & Bath & Body Works Goodies. I ❤ hoarding lotions, shampoos & body sprays! :-) I can't seem to get enough of them. Of the 6 boxes (at 50 lbs./box) we took home from our last May 2010 USA Trip, 3 of them were filled with them! And the rest of my son's and my hubby's toys. ☺ Oh yes, we do have duty free shops here, wherein we can get imported stuff too, but a dollar or 2 savings I think was better than nothing. 1 Box was dedicated solely for my addiction to Bath & Body Works!

The good thing about it though is I got my husband to like them as well...justifies my reason to indulge on them! :-)

I'm addicted to their Anti-bacterial Handsoaps especially the Foaming and the Moisturizing variants.

But for my top picks (and my hubby's too)...I love to hoard these scents and variants.

  1. Shower Gel - Orange Sapphire Scent
    • Love it's sweet citrus scent that really lasts
    • It's as luxurious and moisturizing as it promises
    • The whole bathroom would smell as nice after

♥Halloween Fun! Parade of Costumes!♥

Hello! It's good to be back...October went by so fast and it was definitely a fun-filled month. For me, it was like a month of re-awakening! ✶ I got to jumpstart a potential career as a freelance writer to one of Philippine's leading parenting publication -- Smart Parenting. I was given three assignments to write for the month, 2 of them already got published. ☺ Yeah Baby! I'm actually looking forward to my third article because it's something that's really close to my ♡....coming soon!

Oh well! Going back to my post, (drumroll please!) ...Sharing with you our fun-filled, spook-tacular Halloween 2010.

Chase's School Spooky Fun Party
Trick or Treat! Parlor Games! Dancing! = Epic Fun!

Another spectacular feat of the teachers of Preschoolville!!! ♥♥♥

My son, Chase, in the traditional vampire outfit!  ♥ My Li'l Edward ♥
Choosing his costume had been a challenge and a much debated topic over the weeks...he wanted to be a soldier, I wanted him to be a commercial airline pilot etc. Much to my vanity (and sadly, my lack or creativity!), I didn't want him to dress up as something scary. So we decided to go for the safe and traditional costume. I bought the custom made cape and vampire vintage top from the toy store. I got him to wear a black formal vest for a more classier vampire look. That's the only thing he likes about his costume (he thinks he's a lawyer...missing only his briefcase! ☺) ...definitely looking forward for next year's Halloween, I intend to be more prepared and a little bit more creative!

♥ Mom Tested! Samsung Corby Wi-fi Phone ♥

Hello! Over the weekend, we visited the Sun Shop Store in Marquee Mall. My phone lines  (2 plans at Php 350/mo.) are up for retention or loyalty renewal. The 24 month-contracts passed! :-)...in effect I got to renew the lines and get the free phones at the same time. Sun Cellular and it's 24/7 Unlimited Free Call and Texts changes the way how we sees phone units! Basic phones are okay! You don't really have to get a flashy units. As long as the call buttons work, you're happy! :-)...but, just the same, for the basic plan 350 phone you get a Samsung Champ for free, but I wanted to get the Samsung Corby Wi-fi, and mind you I want it in yellow! :-) I got it for an additional Php 2700 ($60)! I fell in ♥ with it!

Click on the picture to visit official Samsung Site

I'm not really a techie expert...but I have to tell moms out there, that this is actually a very user friendly phone. I was hesitant at first to shift brands, since I've been a Sony Ericsson User for almost 5 years! I'm a person who gets confused with Nokia phones since I've been used to the features of my SE phones. But transitioning to the Samsung Corby Wi-fi is very easy! :-) Just this specific phone unit though, that's why I wanted to talk about it. Because, I'm also using my hubby's Omnia, it's supposedly a better and a higher version, but when I use it to browse the Net, I have to restart it, do multiple touches on the buttons...sorry, but if it's for mobile browsing, I'm not really a fan of Omnia right now.

School Birthday Party

I always wanted to write about celebrating birthdays in school...my son attended so many and talks about them dearly. But since I never hosted one, I can never really talk about it in details. Good thing though, my nephew, Gabe, just had his birthday in school. He is a preschooler in Brightwoods School in Angeles City.
Gabe with his Red Ribbon Cake (Toy Story Characters were bought separately)

Planning a School Birthday Party:
  • Get permission with the school or get to know the school guidelines on this...cause they do differ! Common practice is that they allow it during the snack time, so it's basically a 30 minute affair.
    • Ask if they allow balloons, mascots etc.
    • Ask if they will allow a hosted party, just in case you will get restaurant party package (e.g. McDonald's, Jollibee etc.), with games.
    • If you decide to have a full blown party, ask if you will be allowed to hold it after class hours, to inform the parents that they will be picking up their kids at a later time. Downside of this, is that some of your kid's classmates will not be able to stay long if they are riding the school bus.
  • Make sure you know the head count of kids, and if you wish, you can allot extra for the teachers etc.
  • Give out invitations at least two days before, just to let the parents know that snacks is on you! :-)...and should they decide to return the favor of getting presents, you won't really rush them.
  • You can still choose a theme for this simple affair, like for my nephew, it's Toy Story! :-)
    • Get theme invitations, party hats, table liners/place mats
  • Important: Prepare a corresponding take-out bag/plastics, just in case they won't finish their food.
  • If you intend to serve the cake, make sure you bring serving knife and dessert plates and fork
  • Important: Be on time! This is the case when the party time will really start and end promptly!:-)

♥Making Friends Monday♥

Welcome Monday! I'm starting to enjoy blog hopping...it's really great to meet new fabulous moms!... Here goes my Monday hop...Cheers! ♥♥♥

If you have time, please look through my other exciting posts! Besides my homemaking (mommy & wifey) posts, I also started to talk about my Korean Culture addiction...I'm so into the Hallyu Wave! :-) I also won myself tickets to attend the Seoul Drama Awards, but unfortunately I cannot make it! :-( I don't have enough time and even resources to plan an express trip to Seoul! Oh well! :-)

Episode 1 & 2 of Mischievous Kiss/Playful Kiss Out Now!♥

Oh well! Hallyu weekend for me! :-) In a way it's feeding my depression of not having to win the dream grand prize of going to Seoul, South Korea (but I did win the 5th prize). So being the devoted hallyu addict that I am, I wanted to be updated to the latest KDrama --Playful a.k.a. Mischievous Kiss Korean Version! From the Japanese Manga series Itazura na Kiss. The 2005 Taiwanese Version's "It Started with a Kiss!" and the sequels are I guess well-received. But personally, I just can't seem to bring myself to watch it! The story is ok, just that I can't seem to bond with the actress in that version. But with Kim Hyun Joong in the Korean Version, I'm actually looking forward to it! :-)

I ♥ Kim Hyun Joong character in Boys Over Flowers as Yoon Ji Hoo. So naturally, I wanted to see how he does in this drama. Critics would say that he didn't act well in the BOF, but personally, I like him in the BOF nonetheless and I watched BOF a dozen times (literally spent endless sleepless nights), and I think he played his role pretty well and within the character's need --♥Ji Hoo Sunbae♥! My son thinks that he's that cool too, he actually decided that he wanted to be a doctor like Ji Hoo in the drama. From then on, my definition of BFF is actually after his character! :-)

♥Dream a Little Dream: Win a Seoul Trip!...blogging my hallyu addiction!♥

Oh well! This is probably wishful thinking!♥ Last week, I came across this contest...it ended last Aug. 28 and supposedly the winners would be announce soon(Crossing my fingers!). Here is my Dream Seoul Tour...of course my choices are limited, otherwise I would definitely go to Gongseri Catholic Church,Myeong-dong and The Garden of Morning Calm, and lastly, my ultimate destination would be to attend Jang Keun Suk's Fan Meeting, wherever and whenever that would be!♥♥♥

RESULTS are out!!! I won 5th place = 2 Tickets to the Seould Drama Awards Night, but not Airfare!!! Oh well, sadly, I don't think I can reaise enough funds to cover my visit there in such short notice! It would be on September 10. My take on this, dreams do come true! Keep trying! I will try on reaching my dreams, in time! :-)
Here goes my very own Seoul Tour--I lovingly call it Seoul Fusion. :-)
First Stop: NamSan Seoul Tower
2nd Stop: Deoksugung
Last Stop: Apgugeong
Tour Description: ♥♥♥

"Rekindle one's penchant for Korea as it takes you to places that inspires the romantic, the traditional and the urban chic sides to every girl in love to Korean Drama. Celebrate being in love the Jan-Di way, relieve being a princess, and lastly what every material girl wants, shop in style!"

Wifey to JB and Mommy to Chasey :) It's said that one's eyes are windows to one's soul. True! My eyes twinkle when I'm happy, they light up with my smile. I’m no frills! I'm easy to read (except during Poker). I easily get teary eyed on practically both happy and sad things. I'm overly emotional! UP,Toy Story 3, and Glee made me cry with delight. My hubby is my source of strength. He balances that side of my personality. He made me a more self-reliant person.I love being a mom. But be it known that I tend to be OC, paranoid, and definitely see my self as a stage mom.I can't help but throw him parties every year.I love to read. If there is a lifetime membership to Book Lover's Club, I've probably signed in as early as Grade 1. I'm blessed to have a special relationship with God. He is my confidante. I practically talked to him anywhere and anytime about anything. I'm a Kapampangan and supposedly known for having culinary skills. This still needs to be found perfected, but for sure, I can say I'm a gourmand!I love to eat and it shows!Oh well!Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder and Happiness is only a state of mind. From today onwards, I intend to live in a Happy Mode!Cheers!
